Would I buy another Mahindra?
NO COMMENT as yet!

Personally, I'd buy another one in a New York Minute.....but then again I didn't leave mine out in the weather all winter long.....hope all will be well with your 4500. I do think once its done you should sell it though.....BobG in VA

I don't understand what leaving a tractor out in the weather has to do with it's mechanical longevity. My cars and truck have no protection winter in and winter out. And before I built a barn my 8n sat out all the time. The 8n has a tilt forward seat just for that. I've used my little ford for 16 years, it's 56 years old and has one engine overhaul that I did myself. I think jasperab is ticked and I believe he has a good right to be. Not about the blown rod but about all the time he has had to wait. I don't have to leave my shiny new tractor out in the rain, so I won't. But I've yet to see weather hurt one that get's wet and cold. Just my experience.

I second that weather has nothing to do with it other than paint fade.

I also agree that railing on him for leaving his tractor outside is ludicris.
I never leave my Mahindra outside but it is a cosmetics issue for me. I grew up in the "County" which is the northern 1/3 of the state of maine. It is mostly all farmland up there. In my life I saw all kinds of tractors sitting outside in the field in temps. as low as -20F all winter (even started up w/o an engine heater in the middle of the winter) NO problems. And these tractors were OLD tired iron.
Moot point,..lets move on...:D

I normally wouldn't take the time to respond, but in this case its appropriate.....if all you folks that just joined this forum....(less than 100 posts or so) go back and read the WHOLE thread, you'll understand why I said "leave it out all winter"....I personally don't care what you do with your tractors, but if my tractor started knocking like a piston was about to swap holes with another piston, I sure wouldn't just shut it down and leave it there for months, I would have towed it in and figured out what was wrong with it, not complain later that it was somehow less of a tractor than a Kubota....again, pls read the whole thread, I stand by my original post....no matter what happens with this tractor he needs to dispose of it so we all can move on.....BobG in VA

I read the whole thread ( both of them actually - it was painful ) and I agree with BobG. Anyone who just walks away and leaves his engine damaged tractor out in a field all winter while the three year warranty expires and doesn't even think to tell his local dealer about it is a moron. And then to complain about it publicly in such a misleading, deceitful and accusing way is inexcusable. If I were Mahindra, I would have told him to wise up or get lost. Sorry to be harsh, but this is the most convoluted story I have ever read of tractor abuse and owner irresponsibility.

I'v been following this thread since it's creation and have even posted a few times. On several occasions I have even talked with the folks at Mahindra and kept the ball rolling. In my opinion jasperab should consider himself extremly lucky. If I was the one footing the bill I would have told him to pound sand a long time ago.

Any individual that fails to report an issue as large as an engine knock to his dealer while the machine is STILL UNDER warranty, should have his head examined. Jasperab has time and time again praised his other older tractor, which by the way with a piece of chain he could have towed the Mahindra to the house. No instead he took the advice of a friend and tried to run it back to the house, blowing the motor in the process. Both of these things are nothing but OPERATOR ERROR, along with waiting 7 months to tell his dealer that he had a problem.

Once he told his dealer he had a problem Mahindra said the machine was no longer under warranty. Which is true. After jasperab started his campaign to let the world know that Mahindra in his opinion was a lousy company some folks around here made some calls and e-mails , and some pm's and got jasperab pointed in the right direction.

So here we sit some 14 months later and the man doesn't have his tractor back. Is this Mahindra's fault. Not in my opinion. Mahindra has replaced the engine free of charge, and jasperab has to pay for labor. Not a bad deal in my mind. The only person this man has to blame is himself, if he had done the responsible thing 14 months ago his tractor would probablly been fixed 13 1/2 months ago. Personally I am tired of hearing his sob story and agreed with Bob. Jasperab please put a FOR SALE sign on that tractor as soon as is fixed and move on.

Hi all,
BobG...yes, sir as a matter of fact I did read all the posts. And I know I,m new to the forum, but I know that no one would expect anyone to hold their opinion for a set number of posts.
I don't know Mr. Jasper from adam, but as far as this problem goes then there but for the grace of god go I. He's a person, I'm a person, Corporations are not persons. O'kay, simplistic I know. If I count the times that I have made bone head errors...I can't count that well.
I wish the man well, bone head mistakes or not.
Mahindra did the right thing and I bet that they know it.
By the way, I bought my 4025 after reading one heck of a lot of these posts.
You peoples words carry more weight than you might think.
Maybe the leaving it out in the weather is perceived as casual disdain for what others treasure.
Anyway, Have a very fine day, everyone
