That is why I emphasize "for MY uses on MY land"! Each owner has a variety of uses and conditions to deal with. It is up to each of us to make his own decisions. I just try to point out things that I have discovered, problems I have found, or improvements that may be useful to SOME readers. I am not issuing commandments!! As you pointed out, for YOU sometimes OEM is better, sometimes not. Sometimes we don't even realize that there is a problem, or an improvement available. That is where TBN can be a real service. I do not make, or lose, anything based upon a reader using a suggestion, not using a suggestion, or thinking that I am nuts for mentioning it!!!!
Always wear your seat belt!! My PT-425 will safely handle side slopes that would dump me off the seat if my seat belt wasn't on!!
If you determine that the load you are moving can be lifted OEM, then adding ballast is a prudent choice. But it is not a good idea to add weight to lift something that OEM would not.
If temporary ballast is desired, adding it to the rear hitch would be easier and more effective than wheel weights. To stabilize a load, adding weight, such as a sand bag, to the front of the PT in the pocket under the lift arms may help.
I notice that the forks are not spaced correctly to use on standard wide pallets!!
