I can’t find the answer to my specific question with the search function… this thread came the closest:

reading through the posts, provided the information and reasoning I was looking for to (hopefullyj correct a hydraulic issue I’m experiencing…

I’m using the info for a runaway 3-point top link (which operates smoothly when not connected to a load)…however, when I tilt my box blade back/down, I get considerable chatter from the hydraulic cylinder… reversing the flow to tilt it back up results in smooth, albeit rather rapid movement…

Using the logic provided in that thread, and the space constraints imposed by my CUT, I’ve decided to place a singe orifice flow restrictor on the ram end of my top link… if I read, and understood, the thread correctly… the weight of the BB is pulling on the top link faster than the fluid can be supplied… causing the chatter…

my guess: placing a restrictor in the BASE side supply line will exacerbate the chattering as it would further restrict the already insufficient fluid supply to the cylinder as it’s extending…no?

a side benefit to the chatter remediation would be the cylinder action will slow down…

SO… did I read and apply all the info in that thread correctly?

You want the orifice in the line that restricts oil out of the cylinder from external loads. In this case the load is trying to extend the cylinder so orifice or restriction should be in the rod end.

Thanks… I spent the better part of an hour reading and rereading the above referenced thread…

The info you provided “off the top-of your head” gives me reassurance… not only in regards to my hydraulic issue… but also the fact this old brain of mine can still function properly … even if it is somewhat slower than it once was…
