Replacing Oil Pressure Indicator

My M7030 has idiot lights for oil pressure indicator. It doesn't work. I have found the end of the wire and the orifice where it is attached to the tractor. I am presuming it is just a pressure switch. Is there a way i can connect a regular oil pressure gauge to that orifice?

You probably have a simple pressure switch screwed into a threaded hole in the block. You should be able to replace it with either a sending unit or a fitting and run either a wire or a thin oil line to the dash where you may install the appropriate gauge. Was that the question?

I did it on a Massey Ferguson I had a few years ago. Even made a hole in the instrument panel with a hole saw for the gauge. Mine was hooked up via a very small oil line (maybe 1/8"). That would be the weak link, however, because if the oil line were ever compromised you'd lose a serious amount of oil in a short time.

On this type of conversion I've sometimes kept both the pressure gauge and the light. Just install a "T" in the block and you can run both. A light gets attention faster than a gauge but I like the gauge because it give more information.

Remove the sender for the light and make sure you get fittings for the block with the right thread. Most are 1/8" pipe but I've seen metric too.

Just about any sender that grounds at low oil presure will work. The idiot light sender doesn't need to be from Kubota. Most are set to turn the light on at 5-7 lbs.
