Replacing Kioti LK3504 Steering Sector Shaft

I broke the Steering Sector Shaft on my Kioti LK3504 tractor. I have a new sector shaft but the cover on the right side of the steering box does not want to come off. I have it loose, is there a trick to getting it off and the sector shaft out?

I got the cover on the right side off by screwing in the adjustment screw. The sector shaft is now loose but it hits the bottom of the steering box when I try to pull it out.
