Replacement seats

So, I grab my keys and coat, and walk up the hill to the barn, to see if I can find any markings on the seat. It's stickered LVA22535, which according to Deere Parts Catalog, is the seat + rails assembly ($970) containing that $940 LVA23751 seat.

But for 1/3 the price, and due to the fact that the seat actually looks more like the cheaper LVA12909, I'm leaning toward just buying that.

Hopefully all of this will be of use to someone else, at some point. I did a comparison to the images provided at Shop.Deere.Com | Shop genuine John Deere parts & merchandise, and apparently my seat matches neither of the options listed there, nor does it match the partscatalog.deere.com listing. I guess they just aren't consistent, in fact there's a "Sears Manufacturing" sticker on this seat, although even that sticker includes "Mfg.P/N LVA22535", which is the number given for the seat + rails in partscatalog.deere.com.

Mine is closer to the cheaper LVA12909, in that it has black coping, but the coping style is different. I wouldn't really care, except it looks like the coping on the LVA12909 might have a sharp plastic edge, which might be annoying when reaching back over the seat for things.

Yeah, that's the one that GreenParts has for $327. I just ordered it from Green Parts. Says "usually in stock", so we'll see what happens. If not, ebay will get it done. Thanks!

Weirder.. if I enter LVA12909 into Green Parts Store, it shows up as a valid match for 3033R, even though Deere Parts Catalog lists a different seat. Maybe a region-specific or serial number-specific difference. The 12909 is only $326, versus $940.

Hmmmmm, very interesting. If you Google it, lots of hits come up, including one from "Green Farm Parts" (presumably a JD retailer?). Looking at the picture, it does have the JD logo molded into the back, so must be an actual JD part.

Very tempting to give that one a try...

Anyone close by that does boat and auto upholstery ? They could probably redo it much better for a lot less.

My experience with upholstery guys is that the tractor will be obsolete before they get it done....

Not a bad idea, on the upholsterer. But in this case, I can't afford the down-time to have the seat shell sitting in their shop more than 24 hours.

New seat already on order.
