replacement for cab radio

The FM reception is dead on my DK55c - I decided to replace the entire unit with a unit capable of MP3 playback.

Is there any reason to believe a standard car unit would NOT work?

I can't think of a reason why not other than you won't ahve the luxury of a wiring harness to simplify the install. Trial and error on hooking up those wires...

picked up a $79 radio from circuit city. it's a sony, with a detachable faceplate, MP3 capability, and an auxiliary jack on front to plug in an I-Pod.

the Kioti replacement (no CD or other modern features) was over $300.

it took me less than 2 hours to replace the unit. absolutely loved how easy it was to work on:

remove the 2 bolts near the front lights and the top lifts up and out of the way; you can then enter the cab through the sunroof opening (tight fit) and have immediate access to all the wires.

if anyone needs to replace a radio, PM for explicit instructions. the job was much easier than i anticipated (special thanks to the dealer for providing the wiring diagram!)

I'm interested - either PM me or post here. If you could scan the wiring diagram that would be helpful as well. I'm probably going to velcro my ipod somewhere near the radio for convenience.

Can I get the wiring info on the radio. Went to replace it last night and going to have to go through the roof.

I just purchased a new Kabota M7040 with cab and it came wired for a radio including antenna and speakers. But no radio. Kabota wanted #395 for an AM/FM CD weather radio. I went online and purchased a JBL marine grade AM/FM CD player for $139.95 plus freight. Being marine, the circuit boards are coated to fight corrosion from humidity (I live in south Mississippi and we are used to breathing water) and the CD system uses a hard drive to cut out the skips when the ride is bumpy. So far, everything works as advertised.

i just found out that my 2011 dk45se hst cab tractor is prewired for an ipod. the cable is located in the side fender cup holder. the one with 2 spare covers. i removed the cover, and voila. the ipod cable. wonder why they hid it
