Tractor
None
I have posted this here rather than the Shibaura thread because I think it does not really matter what the brand of tractor is. I gave the make and model so that other TBNers would know.

I need to replace the battery. It is not holding charge. I switched batteries between it and my NH45TCE and gave the Shibaura battery a fair amount of time on the NH. It starts OK after running, but left overnight it is "dead" - barely shows the dashboard lights.

What size battery would you choose to buy for the Shibaura. It is not my tractor, it is on long term storage here along with a lot of other stufff whilst the owner is working overseas, and I get the use of it in lieu of rent - my boom spray is permanently attached. I will be paying for it and do not want a "it will do" battery for it, but the same as I would put on for myself. I have a big range of places to buy from, and many different makes. Past experience of tractor dealers is that they are expensive and so I do not want to ask them.

At least take the measurements of the battery box and note the placement of the positive and negative terminals.

I am not a newbie - been farming all my life and was 76 last week. I know I could just seek the same size, but I suspect the battery that was on is a bit on the light side, and I wanted the opinion of those who know small tractors like these.

Match up the dimensions to a Walmart EverStart MaXX, get the highest CCA available.
EverStart Max is the best bang for the buck in batteries, made by Johnson Controls.
Many good reviews! Maybe $120??
I have one in my Shibaura powered Ford 1920.

Thanks Fred, but no Walmart in Portugal.

Sorry about that!
I missed your location!

Long ago I lived in Southern Spain, and can relate to your problem.

I am planning to need to use both tractors later in the week and to save any messing about think it will be best to leave the NH battery on the Shibaura and buy a new one for the NH. I am in self-imposed quarantine due to recovering from a heart operation and general old age and the NH dealer will deliver if I ask them. They will leave it in a shed, so easy fixed.

Just another problem. It should all have been over because we accepted an offer for the farm just before lockdown of our buyer in New Zealand, and he withdrew when the shtf. Retirement will have to wait a while longer.

I also ran a stronger battery than OEM on my previous Kubota B7000. I only changed the battery on it once in over 18 years of ownership, but the OEM one, did good but could be a bit stronger, specially on Winter times.

You have places like Agriloja, Norauto, Roady and others with good batteries. The Norauto ones, are VARTA made and good quality and price.

There is often a wide range of battery capacity (stated as Cold Cranking Amps in the US) in the exact same form factor (battery "group").
