I have a LX279 John Deere mower. The fuel pump started leaking out of a vent hole. It was running good except for the leak which was dripping on the muffler cover. I replaced the fuel pump with a new pump and It started right up ran for about 30 seconds and acted like it ran out of gas but the tank was full. I don't have a Tech Manual to referance so I need some advice from some of you with more experiance. Can you give me some ideas to check or point me to some information on the net or anywhere so I can get this mower running again. My grass is getting high. Thanks

Let's see, ran in, now doesn't run. Must be something you did. Start by checking fuel pressure and volume. No fuel coming out of pump? Check for air leaks on feed side. Loose connections on supply side could be drawing air instead of fuel. You should be able to feel a suction on the supply side of the pump. Also, make sure you have fuel in the tank! (don't ask me how I learned this)
