Replace PTO Shaft on Ford 501 Sickle Mower

I believe from viewing 501 parts the frt half of pto shaft is still available from Messick's for around $104 for 1 model of 501. I've seen both female & male tractor end telescoping pto shafts. What style is your female tube square or rectangular? To add to your dilemma all types of telescoping pto shafts can be in different sizes. .If you have old shaft I can probably instruct you on how to repair it.

I believe mine is 1"x 11/8" solid stock. On the mower side. I don't have a female side. I'm thinking if I find the right tubing I could cut the male tractor side shaft I bought leaving a few inches from the coupler. Slide the tubing over it and weld it. Would have to make sure the tubing was strong enough. I'm going to look at messicks first though.

I have repaired several implement pto shafts by R&R tubing that was bent/twisted. One needs to be sure u-joints on both end of telescoping shafts are in time(phase)..

I think I know what you're saying. There's a local machine shop that does a lot of ag work. I think I'll start there.
