Replace Headlight Assembly????

Last summer I was washing my 2518 and the lens on the headlights fell off. I noticed on of the tabs was missing. I just put it back on and it seemed to hold. Thought nothing of it. While I was mowing the lens popped off and I ran right over it and crushed it.
I called the dealer and asked if I could get a new lens and he said it was all one piece. The assembly cost about $55. Should I replace it?
I mean it's not like I use the headlights which never seem to work most of the time any way. It just more for appearance.

When the 2000 series were introduced, the headlight lens were noted for falling out/off. CCC soon tired of replacing these on warranty and went to the "sealed" type of light/lens assembly. You have to buy the whole light lens/bezel assembly now unless you find a used lens or one for sale on e-pay.

BTW....The price of the lens/bezel assembly has dramatically fallen in the last 3 years. It WAS well over $ 100 at one time.......

I've seen these on Ebay a lot for a good price.

Thanks for the input. I will most likely have it replaced when I have it serviced this winter.
