Need to remove the Instrument Panel (not in service manual). I removed the 6 mounting bolts but disconnecting the various electronic connectors plus the mechanical tachometer seems to be somewhat difficult in such a tight space. I don't want to create problems. Any one been through this?

I removed mine to add some switches for some additional lighting. I did not disconnect the tach cable because it had enough play in it to do what I had to do. The electrical connections were plugs and easy to disconnect. If you are planning to remove the orange cowling, that is a little more involved but not too bad. I don't think you will have any problems. Pretty straight forward.

I just remembered that the instrument cluster mounts to the black bezel with screws. It has been a while but I think I used a stubby screwdriver to remove those screws which allowed me to remove the bezel and then I had room to work. Also, the knob on the throttle lever unscrews which also allows the bezel to be removed. I'm not sure if bezel is the correct term but I seem to remember that term used when referring to automobile instrument clusters.

Like EMMY71 said removal is very easy. When I took mine off I unscrewed the tach cable first and had plenty of slack in the wiring harness which is secured by a couple of metal tabs inside the dash area. Unscrewing the knob on the throttle makes removal easier as well.

Good Luck...
