Mowing Removing mower blades....please help

My friend, 83 years old, has a Kubota F2400 with an RC72-F24 mower deck. He's trying to remove the blades. Says the head is 30mm, but it also has an allen type hole in the middle. He has tried an impact wrench with no luck.

Is there something special that needs to be done to remove these??? Right hand threads???? Stronger impact??

Do the bolts have a left hand thread?

First. You need to check whether it's right or left hand thread. Some mowers are right, some left.

Second. If you're trying in the right direction, it could very well be the impact wrench doesn't have enough umph. Been there, done that.

I went through the same problem with a Landpride mower. I borrowed an impact wrench and couldn't get the bolts loose. I thought right or left? Couldn't find anything in the OM. Called Landpride and found out they were right hand. Borrowed a better impact wrench and they came loose with no problem.

As was mentioned, a good impact gun is important. I have a CH (worth its weight in manure) and an Ingersoll Rand. The IR is rated at something like 450 ft/lbs.

I wasn't sure about the thread direction on my mower either, but with a strong gun and the size of those bolts, it didn't really matter. I just briefly blipped the gun in both directions while keeping a close eye on the nut.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to throw some PB1 or Liquid Wrench on there for awhile.

SIR,
when you get the bolts off. i would strongly suggest
you use a dab of antisize compound on the threads before
installing them. should be easier the next time.
