I can't seem to find any directions to removing and replacing the PTO solenoid. There is a plastic nut on top of it, that seems to make not difference and when I try to turn the solenoid to unscrew it, the cover just turns. So, I can't quite figure out how to remove. From parts pictures, it looks like it screws on to the valve assembly.

Am I missing something here?....thanks in advance....Dan

According to JD parts it is. I was trying to get old one off to see the pin needs cleaning (solution from one of the posts, on PTO not working)....Dan

2nd question.. is this for the mid-PTO engagement?

No, rear pto...I think the mid pto is mechanically activated with a pull lever.

But on this outside of the solenoid spinning, there looks like a center bolt sticking out that it spins around......Dan

K,

So, I went down to Deere shop, had a solenoid. Basically, there is a plastic nut that holds the outside of the solenoid to inside piece, so the outside should have slid off, but due to whatever, I still could not get it to slide off, so, I took a grinder to it. After I got the outside cover off, I could then hit the bottom with a punch and start it turning off.

I replaced the solendoid, being care for the small pin on the inside of it that's really easy to loose. It still did not work. So, I took off solenoid, and tapped the inside valve which the solenid is suppsed to move. It was stuck, but bounced loosed after it punched it a little. So I think something either from the backhoe or the 3rd hydraulic line, got some sort of junk in the hydraulic line. I removed the valve and also start engine for a sec to let some fluid run out with valve removed.

That fixed it....Thanks for your help.....Dan
