Doesn't look like it would be that tough from here...

But, it's actually like a carpet of vine roots, and they don't always want to come out of the ground.

Sometimes I get a pretty good load with one scoop.

And here's the monster than can handle it - all 18 HP of it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif. If you missed the story of building the rake, it's here - bucket mounted root rake

I am amazed Don that rake seems to work well down here in the Florida Soil. I am in the process of clearing my fence line lotta hand work up against the neighbors fences only only 1000 feet left then I gotta put it all back up, but that is alot easier with the 3pt Post hole digger. I really like those oaks that Okeechobee has don't have them like that in Palm City.

That looks like a real handy implement you have there. Makes me want one.

One of these days, Real Soon Now, I'm going to fabricate different shanks for the scarifier teeth. The ones I got from the box blade are a little too short in the lower (mostly horizonatal) portion, and when I try to fill the rake, a lot of stuff rolls off to the front instead of curling to the back. I need shanks that are longer at the leading edge and with a little more curve. It's a digging fool, though, at least in the Florida sand. Sort of like extra aggressive bucket teeth.

I'd be willing to bet a 5' rear mount snowblower will roll that as efficiently as it does garden hose and clothesline.

I have a bush hog post hole digger that I took the drill off from, with two bolts. I made two adaptors for it to roll my old fence up. One for barbed wire and electric wire and one for 4' chicken wire and the like. So far it's worked pretty slick.

Back in the day a wire roller was fabricated and mounted to a rear wheel of the pick up. That wheel was jacked up and the 4 speed transmission was put in 1st gear (granny creeper) and rolled up about a quarter mile of wire.

Then a guy I worked for as a kid got the idea to put the rear tire on a set of rollers. Lots better than a high lift jack. But then most anything is better than a high lift jack.
