Remote hydraulic size for 2008 M9540

Any pictures? With odd mm dimensions you list....that sounds sae. 12.7mm is 1/2" and 9.5 would be 3/8". But where were those measurements taken from?

A given size NPT will appear to ha e much larger threads than the same nominal size orb or jic

It wouldn't be odd dimensions as I stated. I only stated those dimensions because that is conversion from 3/8" and 1/2". I'm thinking 12mm, because it seemed closed to 1/2".

I believe .654" OD is slightly smaller than 3/8" NPT. The female threads on my remotes are definitely bigger than 3/8" NPT and smaller than 1/2" NPT. Unless, the fitting I ordered really wasn't 3/8" X 1/2". Either way, I'm glad I'm back in business.

Why do you think it couldn't be 3/8npt??? You never tried that.

What you did say that you tried was the 3/8 orb.

Like I said, 3/8 orb is gonna be alot smaller than 3/8 npt.
3/8 npt is gonna fall somewhere between the 1/2 npt and 3/8 orb fitting that you tried.

And I also say again....pics help. Cause at this point, I think it's clear you don't have a good understanding of orb,npt,jic, etc. And many of us on here can tell what it is just by looking at a pic. At least the male threads for sure. Might not know the size without a measurement, but type...certainly

The fitting that broke off was an orb. I'm back at work for a couple weeks so I can't take off the fitting and lost a picture.

If the fitting was an ORB fitting, and you tried a 3/8 ORB fitting, and it was too small. Then a 1/2" NPT was too large.......then it was probably a 1/2" ORB

Maybe so, I assumed orb and NPT were the same od, but the orb wasn't tapered and is shorter.

No. ORB fittings are smaller thread than pipe fittings

A size smaller NPT fitting is usually pretty close to the same size as ORB. IE.....3/8NPT and 1/2orb are close. 1/4 pipe and 3/8 orb

the 3/8 orb fitting you tried is ~ .560" OD
The 1/2" NPT you tried is ~.840" OD

A 1/2 orb fitting would have been ~.750
and 3/8 NPT ~.680
