Reel mower

I have never seen any used ones for sale, so I don't have any idea about the resale value. I suspect that unless you find the "right buyer", the resale value won't be good.

I have a Pro Mow 9' 7 gang reel mower i would like to sell if anyone is interested. It has about one cutting season on it. The reason why i am selling it is I built a house last summer and do not have an established lawn. The reel mowers do not work to well for a lawn that is not established. I bought a tractor because it will take about three years for me to get my lawn established. Anyone interested please reply.

I work as a Turf Equipment Technician at a local golf course.
I spend about 28 to 30 hours per week sharpening, adjusting, and maintaining the course's 30 reels mounted on 14 machines.
The machines cut grass from .125" to .425" tall.
I also maintain 8 blades on two machines in about 2 hours per week.
They cut grass at 2" tall.
Very few golf courses use reel mowers to cut the "rough" areas anymore since the are just too time consuming to maintain and once the grass is much over 1" above cut height they do a very poor job.
If there is anything I can do to help you please ask here or PM me.

Great. Maybe you can let me know the feasablility of using a gang system on my land. I have abour 4 1/3 acres of lawn. Luckilyt it's pretty smooth. It takes me about 3-4 hours to mow with my 60"deck on my tractor. My concerns with using a gang system is running into sticks, etc. I have a lot of mature trees that are continually addidng debris to the yard. Also my grass grows very quickly. About 1-2" per week. Could I mow that once a week? How much maintenance time would it take to maintain a 8 or 9' system used once a week. My hunch is that I'm better off sticking with my current system.

I live in Chesapeake, VA. Southeast section of the state wedged in between Norfolk and VA Beach. The people at PRo Mow said that i should sharpen my blades once per year and do a little bit of adjusting the blades/ cutter bar. Its an easy setup that will operate as a 7, 5 and 3 gang mower. Adjustments are easy and Pro Mow has been very helpful with questions that i have had for them.
