Reduce detent pressure / short stop solution

Good morning,
I just purchased a used Huskee 35 ton log splitter (made by Speeco for Tractor Supply).
The hydraulic valve on the splitter has "BMG" cast into the body.

My question:
Is the detent kickout pressure adjustable on my valve?
I would like to reduce it, if at all possible.
The reason is I would like to add some type of short stop to prevent the cylinder from returning all the way home.
And I don't want to have to design the short stop to take "35 tons" of pressure to stop the ram.

I do not see a relief on that valve. The cap on the end is for spring centering.

Usually you can see two relief settings one for the valve, and one for the kickoff.

This is a log splitter valve and you can see two reliefs.

If you do have a kick out detent, it is adjustable.

The only 'adjustment' on the valve (not counting the piece with the large slot inside the end cap)
is the bolt below the return hose fitting on the pic below.
I had assumed this bolt was to regulate valve relief.

OK. I see it now. That is probably the valve relief.

I looked at the BMG valves and did not see a log splitter valve.

Although you can use any valve for a log splitter, they usually use a detent return for a log splitter.

You could always drill a hole in the beam where you want the valve to kick out, you won't be putting 35 tons of force to it, only what the relief is set to.

If that valve is a spring centering valve, it will extend and retract as long as you hold the lever.

So if you want the cyl to stop, let go the lever.
