That was pretty good, I laughed pretty good. Luckily for me, my redneck neighbors live up the hill in the compound. A nice stand of woods on my property blocks my view of them. They have a pretty well populated trailer park/junkyard going on up there. The local folks know of the owner as "DirtyBelly"

/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif Compound? /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif That's what my wife and I have been calling our new place in the country that we're planning for right now! And it was her idea for the name! /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif I don't think I'll mention your redneck neighbors and the word compound in the same sentence! /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Oh, it's definitely a coumpound. There are about 10 dwellings, ranging from small tow behind campers, plywood shacks, mobile homes, and a very rundown old house. They are actually pretty nice folks, just choose to live that way I guess.

Whew! /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif Our compound is only going to be our house, the tractor's house (a.k.a barn), and an art gallery. I guess we'll be O.K. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Very funny!/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I usually don't have the patience for longer stories like that but it kept me chuckling all the way through. I'm sure you know the last four words a redneck says before he dies....

He sure seems to have a lot of free time to spy on the neighbor. Maybe if he just minded his own business he would be a better neighbor.

Granted jd8 needs to move out of the burbs, but I hate it when people seem to think there home concerns go past there property line.

which is worse a moron or a nosey busy body for a neighbor

They're equally bad as we have one of each in our subdivision. I'm sure we'll have some when we move but at least we'll have some distance between us in the country /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I know of a situation near here where a guy was doing body work at his house. I believe the lots in that area are about five acres. His house was not visible from the road or any of the neighbors property it was wooded. The neighbors hired a plane to fly over and take pictures so they could turn him in. I don't know how it turned out but the county was on him.

People should mind their own business if it is not affecting them.

let someone or some company buy the land close to you or within smell/hearing range, and start putting in something that lowers your property value considerably, or stinks so bad you can no longer raise your windows, and barely spend any "breathless" time outside, or make so much noise you can't sleep at night, and i guarantee you will change your view. if it was there when you moved in, i agree 100%..

In my previous house, my next door neighbor decided to raise pigs. You couldn't see it or hear it but you could sure smell it. I was in the middle of selling the place. I was very polite, but he wouldn't budge. It was in the town, but in New England, everything is in the town. There weren't any ordinaces to prevent him. It ended up costing me that sale and I had to drop the price many thousands of dollars in order to sell it.

It sure seemed important to me...

I've have had neighbors like both of these guys at one time or another. Just gald that I don't have either at present. I'm glad that these guys live in Miami http://www.knology.net/~carlos/index.html and not in western N.C. Wouldn't want either of them for a neighbor.
