Red Neck Muffler Repair.

/ Red Neck Muffler Repair. #21
reminds me of my much farmerized ford 950 rowcrop.

most of the mounting holes in the head and block fro attaching sheet metal and such were broke out.. or had broke out corners.

i finally went down to tapping a hole in the side of the broke out corner and using a small piece of angle ron with a captive nut on it so I could put a bolt back into the original location.

had to hand cut heat shields for it betweent he fuel tank and muffler. used roofing tin, patterned it off an existing one I had.

turned out great.. to my surprise.. :) that and the homade fuel tank and other brackets made to match the originals.. but with totally different mount points due to som many mangled hole byt he original owner.

some i got lucke and there was enough meat in the hole to tap for a pip plug, then drill the pipe plug out for an oem fastemer size..

was a fun summer of drilling out broke bolts and studs for 2 weeks with carbid and lefty bits.

probaly more broke bolts and studs on that machine that good ones when i got it.. :)

We must have went similar "schools" of "engineering".

I got a 1930 Chevy that at one time had been made into a "Dump Truck". It had seat & cowl when I got it. On the edge of town was some kind of a Bucket body. The Chevy frame was straight, the bucket was tapered. Not a problem, Stick a couple of 2x4's under it and bolt it down. I now had the bucket I'd always wanted. No worry about the frame & wheels sticking out the back. 2 Friends and I went to the Silver Bell park, to swim & drink. While I was busy (Drinking) I see them going back & forth on the highway in the bucket. When ask why the kept going bye, "Jerry didn't know where the brakes were."

When we left, being more than just a little drunk, Dennis said Jerry should drive as he had just tought him how to drive. A couple of times I looked up and steered him back onto the road. I didn't look up in time and we flew off a 30 /40 foot cut in the road. Didn't kill any of us, but was then end of the bucket. :D:thumbsup:
