What's a good lubricant for all those external parts that need to be slippery such as 3-pt hitch ball fittings, FEL engagement pins, and such?

Thanks

I save old drain oil, an mix it with a small amount of chain saw oil. That gives it some stickiness. Been doing that for years.

I use Fluid Film. best stuff I have found for external coatings you want to stay for a while.

are you sure the ball needs to be lubed on the 3PH? i've been advised contrary (that part) as it will collect dust and accelerate wear.....maybe a silicone base?..everything else on it grease @ zerk. just imho

When I grease my zerks, any excess that oozes out, I swipe it out and wipe on metal parts that moves. I only do enough to coat it lightly, nothing more. If it gets dirty, just a simple wipe with rag takes care of it and I can wipe more on. There's always more where it coms from in oozing.

Lots of good suggestions. Didn't know about Fluid Film, looks like great stuff. Bar/chain oil, that stuff is real sticky, sounds like a good option. As for whether those balls on the 3-pt arms should be lubed or not, while lube may attract some debris, going dry might cause more wear. How about spray-on lithium grease?

JD manual recommends silicone spray. That's what I use. Doesn't collect dirt and dust.

Been getting plenty to make up what I've used at estate sales.

Jd Super Lube works great. I am pretty sure it just their version of silly spray.

I also use Fluid Film on those ball joints as well as other metal to metal contact parts that don't have Zerk's. Kinda like the smell of it too. :licking:
