My property is real hilly and rocky, I'll be getting a new dk40 next week (Hopefully)
I'll have 14.9x24 filled rear industrial tires. Should I have the dealer mount them in the widest position?

If you have no reason not to (like narrow gates etc.) I would definitely have them mount them to the widest position.

Unless there's a reason not to, set them all the way out.

I may be wrong but I don't believe the rims for Industrial tires can be changed for width as you can do with the rims for Ag tires. I though the Industrial tire rims are one piece versus the two piece rims for Ag tires which are adjustable depending on how you mount the center on the rim.

Good point Victor, maybe someone with a dk40se and industrial tires can chime in.

On my 3016, my industrials are mounted on one piece wheels.

On the DK 40/45/50 the rears are adjustable with R4 or R1s..outer rim bolts to inner disk.

Your welcome, mine came set wide, which is still not all that wide, I can angle my 7ft rear blade and still cover my tracks..
So yea, wide is the way to go.

I swapped mine last winter. I'd never go back. However a 5 ft rotary cutter will not cover your tracks. I'm thinking of going to a flail. A 6 ft medium duty on a dk40 is underpowered

Yes, at the widest setting, for sure. Unless there is some overriding reason that they must be narrower. Wide = stability.

It really makes a difference when mowing ditches. The widest position is 75" outside measurement with the 14.9x24 R4s.
