Mowing Rear finish mower sizes on BX24

I read recently some discussions on here about people using rear finish mowers rather than the belly mower. I was curious about what sizes people are using behind a bx. I have a rough cut rear mower now but am thinking of switching to a finish mower now that the property is under control. I believe with the finish mower I could then use it more on my immediate yard and give the old rider a break.

There are finish mowers made for the BX by King Kutter and Woods. I believe they are 4' mowers. Your tractor has enough hp for a 5' mower, but weight could become an issue.

I have a 48" Sitrex finish mower and it works fine. I decided on that size because I have a few trees that are just ove 4 feet wide and I wanted one to fit in between, And, I found it used for a great price!!

Ihave a 60" mmm and wish i got a smaller mower just because of flat terain.I don't have. I've got some bald spots at first but now all better for now.

I pull a 60 inch Kubota finishing mower behind my BX2350 that I am quite happy with. I was offered a 72 inch unit for the same money but turned it down because I thought it was too much mower for the tractor. The two factors that I considered most were the weight and horse power at PTO. You should be able to compare these on your tractor manual and the stats for your mower. I pull a 42" rear mower for early season mowing, then follow up the rest of the mowing season with my 54" MMM...Reason I use a 42" mower is because it's the one I had with a previous smaller Kubota.

I just recieved a flyer from harbor freight today and they had a 5ft finish mower for under $600. I think it was made by central machinery. Has anyone had any experience with this one? I know it's probably back to the old "you get what you pay for" thing, but sometimes you just never know.

The Woods 54" mower seems a good match for the BX. Here is one mounted that has seen lots of service! The friend that owns this one mows acres of Christmas trees with it, and needs the rear discharge since grass clippings will kill the lower branches of his trees.
