Has anyone ever put rear tire chains on a TC35, TC40 or TC45? I am sure I need chains but I am worried about the fender clearance.

I was wondering the same thing. I was thinking of trying chains on the front on my four wheel drive, don't think they would be quite as effective but there would be no fenders to contend with and also cheaper. The bad part would be there is no differential lock on the front axle. I was looking at the Deutz website, they have differential lock on both axles. Sounds like a good feature to have.

I think it might be possible. I know I considered it when looking at a TC40, but never followed through after buying a TN70A.

Good luck.

We run chains on all our tractors during icy conditions as we are on a steep hill. I purchased chains and spreaders from Gemplers. There is just enough clearance on our TC45DA. I always tie wire the extra hanging links so they don't swing freely. the TC45DA has R4's on it.

I just orded a set from tire chains . com and haven't cut them for fit yet .
Hope Bob in VT is right and I sure will keep them tight.
On my JD with R - tires they are bumpy as heck but they are v bars.
This time I orderded the lightest ones they have for the TC40DA and hope the are not too bumpy, I have to use chains when it gets icy where I plow , because it is really steep.

Hey Bob in vt , How do they ride on asphalt ?
Is it really bumpy with the R-4s ? now I am a little worried about the ride , My little John Deere 4110 with the v-bar chains is horrible on the pavement you have to go like 2mph (if that) and it feels like you are ridding over bricks but I need the darn chains for the steep ones in the icy conditions.

I am hoping the larger tires on the New Holland will help the ride some . Anyone have any tips for a softer ride with the chains ?

Yes they are bumpy. I don't travel far or fast so I can live with it. I have the duo-grip. They kinda snuggle in between the lugs but enough stays on top to help in icy conditions.

Thanks Bob, I already bought mine so I will have to live with them ,I also bouhgt the star-like spring tensioner that goes outside the wheel to help keep the chains tight, mabey we will get lucky and not get too much ice this year just lots of snow .
I never had a problem pushing even on the steep stuff without chains in snow with no ice,a little slip and slide but overall pretty good traction on snow.

I like the look of thoes chains that have two runs all the way around the tire and a few cross links , they look like they would eliminate the "clump and bump" ride since they go all the way around the tire, I guess ?
I would have bought them but they are expensive.... , now I am thinking mabey I should not have cheaped out.

Drop the tire pressure to the low end of acceptable for the load the rears are carrying. You can't soften asphalt, frozen ground, or the chains, but you can soften the tires. With R-4's I'd be at or near 10psi (or even a little less) unless you have an ungodly load on the 3PT.
