Trying to remove the axles from ym2210. It appears that I will have to remove the Pto gears etc... from the rear to access the bolts, clips etc... holding the axles in place. Before I just "take it apart", what linkages will I remove to allow the PTO gears, shafts to come, out as one piece, to access the axle retainers? I would like to make this a idiot proof as posssible as I'm the idiot doing this removal. attached are some a few pictures early on. Any advice or if someone has seen this before, offer suggestions. thanks.

If you have removed the pto shifting fork it would seem to me the unit ought to come out. Has it moved at all?

looking at dougs model and drawing, thanks. the axle on the 2200 model does come out with the housing. looking at my 2210 the large gear on the axles will have to remain in the differential housing, and the axle can slide out of the housing or with the housing dependent on fit of bearings to shaft (pressed or not). On the PTO plate 6 nuts/bolts remain 2 small near PTO shaft and 4 large nuts which attach to the two rods (seen from the top into the differential). my plan is to remove the 4 nuts and try to slide the PTO housing off from the back.
once this is done I will try to move the pto gears as one unit and "release" any "connections" that prevent the removal of the gears. Once the pto gears are out I hope to be able to remove the bolts seen in the picture on the end of the axle or circlip holding the large gear to the axle to allow axle to slide out. is my thinking right???? Help would be nice raining too hard to work on tractor today. ordering parts today.

I don't know whether your thinking is right or not. I'm sure it is better than mine. Still think it should slide out without taking the 4 nuts off. Am I correct in thinking pto shifting fork is out of way?

seems that the shifting fork is comming from the bottom, when i shift the pto gear shifter the gears are being moved from below. now, the term shifting fork i envision as a "U" shaped fork that nudges the gears. Pto plate does not move at all with the 4 nuts still in place, and I removed the large circlip from pto shaft.

You are correct, the shifting fork is a u shaped item that slides in a groove on the pto sliding gear. Find where your shifting shaft goes into the housing, remove whatever is necessary to pull it out 3/8" or so. I'm thinking your assembly is holding on dowel pins or something. May have to wedge in there with a thin bladed screwdriver or something to get it moving. This is not a pto shift fork but a hi/lo fork. It is similar to what yours should look like. well, not quite as bad as i thought. Could have used some advice, and my thanks to "buck" @eccequipment. for the help in responding to a call from the wilderness. I took his advice and easily carefully pryed the rear pto plate off, detached 3 items. 1. spline collar 2. Pins, washer, cotterpins.(#2). After the removal of these 3 items the whole pto came out as one unit. 3 bolts on the end of shaft removed and tried to pull entire axle housing and axle at one time, wish i would have known that the brake drum had to be removed 1st. The axle easily came out of the housing, but the Inner bearing and spacer would not come thru the housing or go back into the differential housing, causing me to have to remove the axle housing to get to the bearing. Here are the pictures, so no one has to go thru this with0ut some pictures.

Now after seeing that when I get back to the Fathers house I'm definitely going to be looking harder at his Rear Axle setup. I hope his 2500 is setup atleast like the 2200 and not the 2210 :confused:that just gives me even more of a  on my 2000.
