Really Hate to Post this DP

When you speak of GM and why they took bail-out help you are really talking about a hand full of people, GM executives and their board of directors.

Their combined incompetency drove GM into the ground, not the thousands of white/blue collar workers who support hundreds of cities across our country, those are the folks and towns the bail-out saved.

I live in in the motor capitol and I will tell you this, GM is still lead by the same inept leadership as before, just the names have changed. They are still blind to their market and only time will tell if they can make it.

If you buy foreign, you ship the wealth of our country offshore from the profit.

When you bash GM, please remember your real target is the handful that was at the top.

The real cause is Wall Street and the unreasonable pressures they put on businesses to produce earnings to the point where creative accounting systems were invented. The GM bail-out is over with, get over it. Instead, focus your anger where it belongs, did you know Freddie Mac is holding their hand out for more of our bail-out cash and at the same time passing out millions in executive bonuses?

I'm far more upset by the loss of value of my properties than I am of the automotive bailout.

Around here you can blame that on GM also. My town of about 100,000 had nearly 50,000 GM employees 10 years ago. Today, 0. It has killed this area. We have had as much as 18% unemployment and the town is down to less than 60,000 now.

This GM bailout crap is just that. GM should not have been bailed out and for that matter no company should have. Its business 101. Strong survive, weak fail, the strong pick up the assets of the weak when they fail. Its a dead brand to me and the majority who live around here but some chose buy into the current leaderships spin on things and blindly follow.:confused2:

You should see the damages here in Michigan left from GM, Detroit, Saginaw, Flint, and Pontiac. All of these cities made the top 10 FBI list of the most dangerous in 2009 with similar blue collar unemployment, only Pontiac fell off the list for 2011 and that is because the Pontiac Police were disbanded and the Sheriff took over the city.

The auto makers created their own problem over the years for failing to recognize their market. Anyone with common sense could have done better than the leadership that was in place not only at GM, but the other two also.

Hate GM if you want, don't buy their products, I could care less. But if you do buy new, at least buy a Ford and keep the profits in our country.

Personally, I can't afford new anymore, it is just way too much for a vehicle. I buy two to three year old vehicles that have a detailed maintenance path. So far so good, my 2003 Tahoe is at 180,000 miles and running strong.

I think we are far better off focusing our anger on Wall Street, our elected politicians, and the darn banks that pass out millions in salaries and bonuses while asking for additional bail-out money.

This is just my .02 cents and it's probably not worth that. I think if GM had gone under, then certainly Chrysler and possibly Ford would have gone also. The independent suppliers that supply all 3 of the major automakers could not stay in business with the loss of one of them. Even with just the loss of GM, the ripple effect across the economy would have been devastating. I don't think any other company would have come in and purchased any of GM's assests. So all those plants would be shuttered and the employees gone. All the tax revenue and purchasing power of employees gone.

GM's survival is by no means guaranteed now. They had better get their act together when it comes to quality control. I still see GM products driving around with paint peeling off in sheets. All this time in business and they can't figure out how to paint a vehicle??? I think anyone hoping for the demise of GM had better be careful what they wish for.....they just might get it.

i have a buddy who is a saturn driver, loves em, gave his 1st one to his mom, and is now well into his second.. he was bummed out by them dropping.

My wife had a 94 Saturn when we got married. It had a 5 sp manual and got 32mpg. Wish we still had that car and wish the company was still around. Oh well.

This Toyota was built in Princetin IN with ,mostly Amercian made parts. Purchased new August 2007, going on 93,000 miles.

My 2007 Toyota 4x4 Tundra with the Alabama built 5.7L engine will be my truck of choice for a long time.

No I am not going to reward the government by purchasing a truck from them.

Yes, I will be rewarding any and all of our politicians, that waste our money with a trip home and a pink slip.

Please elect people that want to shrink government down.

I have owned 2 Saturns also. Both SC's Both great cars. Best thing GM produced in my opinion. The first one was much better to me than the second one but both were light years better than the two GM trucks I had. Both were POS's.


The only real complaint I have with my second Saturn was that it drank oil like my uncle drinks beer. 1 qt ever 600 miles since it had 30,000 miles on it. GM would not do anything about it. I drove it till it had just a tad over 130,000 miles and sold it to my insurance agent for his daughter then she totaled it 2 months later. All in all it was a good car. Just typical GM nickle and dime stuff.
