Hi Guys,

About four years ago I purchased a BX 2230 to use around my home on one acre. I have a front mount blower for snow, a FEL and a backblade to go with the 50" mower deck. I has been a great little machine with no problems whatsoever. We get a ton of snow up here and the bx does the trick.

Anyway, I am now purchasing 20 acres up in Leelanau County. The property is mostly wooded with hills and a two acre field in the front. I will need to re-do the fence line around the perimeter of the property and when I build a house there I will have a 300ft driveway to clear. So....can the bx handle this much work or should I be looking to go to a larger tractor?? Can you get a post hole digger for the bx??

You sure can! there not many items you cannot add to this machine.

Bird, that looks exactly like the BushHog brand PHD that my neighbor and I use on our BX's. Very stout unit, works great.

I would keep the BX and buy something bigger to handle the bigger jobs that would take the BX seemingly forever to do.

The tasks listed by the poster would not be accomplished much, if ANY faster with a larger machine. BX has plenty of power to run the PHD and will get into tight spots much easier. The amount of drive you can clear with the front mount snowthrower in a short time is something folks playing with blades and FEL on other tractors just cannot appreciate. I do 465' of drive and a large parking area in about 30-45 minutes after a 12" snowfall. (AND...the snow is 20-40 feet away!) Enjoy your mighty BX! Dave

If by clear you mean digging out stumps for a new drive, It would be cheaper to farm that out and just keep the BX. Unless of course if you have a "thing" for owning a bigger tractor.....
