Hey guys I've been "trolling" around here as a guest for a few months now and educating myself. I recently bought a piece of land here in central/southern indiana. Land is about 200 acres. Mix of terrain but roughly 170 acres in woods and then about 30 acres that was pasture. Land can get muddy and there are some hills, creeks, low spots so 4wd is a no brainer. The previous owner had been leasing it out for hay but hadn't the last few years so the pastures are now overgrown but not too bad just needs bush hogged to get rid of the sapling/bushes that have started growing. The place came with a 1974 IH 2400B (54hp diesel) but it wasn't well maitained and I've spent more time in the last two months trying to get it to run than I have using it so I'm done with that. I was originally looking at JD and in the CUT family of tractors, maybe 4520 or 4720 because I was "sure" I wanted hydro. Well the more I talk to folks and read I'm thinking with my size place and the way I'm going to use it bush hogging and clearing trails that bumping up to a UT class tractor is the way for me. When you look at them side by side the UT's just seem beefier to me. Anyway I was going to get a 5055e or 5065e I thought. Then driving around last weekend I see a Kioti dealer about 15 miles from my place so I swung in. JD place is about 25 miles away just for reference. Kioti place is small but they've been there for 60 years and selling Kiotis since 1990 so I feel good about them. I really got swayed but maybe just because I liked the dealer/owner and I feel like I will get good service but that's just a gut feeling. So long story short JD has a "special" going and they are at 30.5k for the 5055e gear drive. The Kioti dealer is offering me a RX6620 for 29kor a RX7320 for 30.5k. Both are gear drive as well but with powershuttle and he is throwing in filling the tires with Rimguard and delivery. So basically for the same dollar I'm getting it seems like way more tractor, 16 hp I think, and a dealer I feel pretty good about. Probably answering my own question I just figured I'd throw it out. Least I didn't ask which tires to get! (already decided on AG's because of my muddy ground). I don's see many reviews on the RX Kioti's but seems like most CK, DK, NX owners are pretty happy.

To TBN Kalkid. A good dealer that you can trust can be a great thing when you need service. More HP is always a plus and with that many acres and what you are planning, a UT seems like a better fit.

I think you're on the right track, and as between the two RXs, I think I'd opt for the RX7320. I gather you've ruled out a cab because so much is in timber? Easy for me to spend your money, but boy is a cab nice in winter and summer if you think you can work in the woods carefully enough to avoid tearing it up. Could you maybe keep your old tractor as a beater?

The "E" lineup of Deere's are pretty bare imo, and their tier 4 solution stinks. RX is a much nicer tractor.

You want an HST only if you will be doing a lot of loader work or work that requires small, fine movements.
A power shuttle that allows the operator to flip forward and backward with a steering column-mounted lever without using the clutch and is best for straight line work, or better said, little variation in direction. You can do loader work like hay bales just fine with it since a bale doesn't require fine forward and reward movement. You'll also be able to plow snow fine enough with a power shuttle except where fine, detail work is required in which case, use the clutch.

I think I could swing the cab but I'm just worried I'd be destroying it or would be mad everytime I dent it, break a window or whatever. I know I've read that guys that have them seem to love them and wouldn't go back. I still have a lot of limbs and would like to make new trails so I just worry about beating it up. Our winters are pretty mild with limited snow so I'm not too worried about winter. I went to school in the Upper peninsula of Michigan so compared to that Indiana winters feel like Florida to me. If anything I think I would like the cab in the summer for AC and to fend off the flies and mosquitos. Hopefully I don't regret going open but I haven't ordered it yet. Supposed to meet the owner at the shop Saturday to close the deal. Glad to hear the reinforcement on the shuttle shift. I keep hearing most guys say it's not quite as easy as a hydro but pretty close. Guarantee it's easier than the IH I have with the worn out clutch. Think I'm doing ok on price to but not much to compare it with other than list prices on tractor house or other brand quotes I got.

That's a pretty accurate assessment. For the work I'm doing right now, which involves a lot of back and forth, the HST is better for me. But, if I was mostly mowing or doing tillage work I'd rather have the power shuttle (i.e., hydraulic shuttle).
I'm not familiar with the going prices on the RX line, but those prices sound good to me. I'd go with the 7320 just for the extra HP, especially the extra PTO HP, which could mean the difference between being able to run 15 foot batwing mower comfortably or not.
Just be aware that these machines have a Cat II 3 point hitch, and Cat II equipment is pricier than Cat I equipment. So budget accordingly.

You can use bushings on cat I and run on a cat II tractor. But usually cat I are not built to hold up to a true cat II tractor.

Lot's of variables in the equation, but with that tractor, any ground engaging implement should be cat 2, and heavier the better.
Sometimes the cat 1 stuff is simply to small as in the 3pt top link attachment point is only 1 7/8" wide and your 2" wide cat 2 top link end is just not going to fit. Or the cat 1 pins are so short that when the cat 2 draft link ends are slipped over them they are too wide be able to get the lynch pin in to keep everything together. Or everything does happen to fit on and because it is built to go behind a 4000lb tractor and it is now behind a 7000lb tractor, the implement gets hung up on something and instead of stopping a 4000lb machine, the 7000lb machine just keeps on going and that cat 1 implement is pretty much destroyed.
