Buying Advice Ready to buy a Kioti RX I think

Trust me: get the cab and purchase a Jameson blue slick pole saw with a 14" fantail saw head. . . .

To heck with the manual pole saw. I bought a Stihl KM130R Kombi system with the pole saw attachment, and that puppy will make quick work of tree limbs.

Up to about 24' high, it works great!

I'm super happy I purchased it.

I don't have a gas-powered pole saw and my only experience with a powered pole saw is my 120v electric pole saw. I much prefer the lightweight Jameson BL sticks over the collection of telescoping poles I own as well as my electric pole saw.

My limitation is my spring and summer restriction on trimming oak branch on trees I want to save for fear of oak wilt.

A sharp, high quality manual polesaw is way handier than a power polesaw. Anyone who has actually used a good example of each would agree. IMO.

Another plus for the cab is storage. The cab protects a lot of items from the weather. Read problems about switches and also gives you more place to store tools.

depends on what you're doing... but for clearing trails of small limbs that can hit a tractor i would agree

For infrequent use or a few limbs here and there, I'm sure it's fine. What I'm doing with my Stihl pole pruner is a massive job even with the power saw. If I had to use a manual polesaw, I'd give up.

Those sound like great Kioti prices, and agree RX and 5000 E series aren't apples-to-apples... Kioti much better equipped. I ended up with a LS XU5065CPS (cab, power shuttle) last year when cross-shopping the three brands -- better price (lower for equiv. HP + std rear remotes, radio, no charge R4s, etc.), better dealer relationship, 5 year power train warranty, and so I could add an OEM backhoe. It also has the advantage of not using a DPF that would require periodic regen cycles and maintenance.

Having said that and used it for a year: PS is great and rarely wish I had hydro, backhoes and cabs are friggin awesome (albeit not necessarily together when controls are isolated), and so far it has been worth it to me to have a beefier Cat II UT vs large CUT that (IMO) I consider the NX, XR (LS), and comparable tractor series to be... subtle things like longer/wider wheelbase, heavier weight, roomier cab, higher lift capacities that leave a little extra vs. maxing out on big projects and implements.

If price and dealer situation were reversed, I likely would have been happier with the RX cab. Very nice, smooth tractors and I hear great fuel economy for their size/HP. So glad I paid the extra for a cab... and figure my resale will be better if I should ever need to sell later on. The only downside is it won't fit under 8' garage doors or those aforementioned tree limbs. LS XU series worth a look too if you want something sorta in between a NX and RX in size/weight, and LS P series if you want a much larger ag tractor and don't mind regular shuttle shift (higher HP models with PS get pricey). The JD, MF, Case, and Kubotas were also nice, but too much $$ in my experience. A motivated dealer could have sold me any of those color tractors, but think RX is still compelling on its own merits exclusive of price.
