Jinma 254 with y385 engine
I have a 1987 Jinma 254 Tractor with the Y385 engine.
My ignition switch is working but I bought this second and would like to know what the characters mean on the switch bezel. I think it may be wrong.

See attached picture

Thanks

Tom

If it's an ignition switch maybe it's for a gas engine, since diesel engines don't have an ignition.

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder. Enjoy the site.

This is just a WAG but the "Q's" are in the right spot for the coil. The "O" is correct for off.

"Y" is for run/engine on, which leaves "D" for electrical on.

If it's like mine, Q is start, O is off, D is run and Y is pre-heat. You can start with or without pre-heat which is why there are two Q's.

That's your reply?

Am I wrong here or are you being a smart aleck?

It sure seems like your just muddying the water with mentioning gas engine possibilities because you have an issue with the OP using the term "ignition switch"?
You know the OP doesn't know what the switch is and is asking for help, not playing a game of "gothcha".
It should also be obvious to you that's he uses the general term "ignition switch" since he mentions the "ignition switch" on his other diesel too.

BTW, the ignition in a diesel engine is controlled by this switch.

Maybe I'm all wet on what the intent of your post was, I hope so.

Thank you Quicksandfarmer for providing the answer the OP was looking for.

The generic term is Key Switch. Just let it go.
