RE: JD subcompact TLB - when ?

As a owner of a JD for close to four years, I have to say I am giving John Deere 2 more years to come up with a subcompact TLB equal to the BX23, or I am going to trade-in my JD for a BX TLB. These tractors came out about six months after I bought my 4100, otherwise I would have bought one. While I don't protest to know everything, I am shocked that JD does not look at the sales figures of the BX22/23 and try to directly compete with it. I do not have a surplus of storage for subframe backhoe and like the idea that a BX can simply remove the BH and drive away. Given what I have read on this board, I don't think I am alone in my half-@$$3d analysis /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Woods has a backhoe out now that would fit on the 2210 which is the direct SubCUT competitor to the BX series. There are a few people on tractorbynet who have added them to their tractors, I recall a 2210, a couple of BX2230's and even a BX1500 out there with the backhoe. I think there was also somebody in the Case forum who posted some pics of the backhoe on the Case SubCUT and I saw some pics of it on a Kioti CK20 too. I have personally seen this backhoe on BX2230 and a New Holland TZ24D at my local dealer and it is a pretty nice unit. None of this however answers your real question - which is why you can't get one from Deere. I have to say that if the 2210 had come with an integrated backhoe unit comparable to the BX22/23 I probably would have bought a Deere instead of the BX23 I ended up getting. So it looks like there are at least 2 sales out there Deere has potentially lost by not having this option on their tractor.

Can you get a JD46 backhoe put on your 4100? I have on the 4110 with the 46. I like the extra ground clearence and hydraulic capabilities over the BX/2210 style with a BH.

I have thought about the 46 BH, but given that I have a RMM, I would have to buy a MMM to use the 46 BH. Given the cost of buying a MMM (or trading the RMM for one) and the cost of the 46 BH, I would just as soon get a BX23 and have a self-contained unit with out a subframe. The out of pocket cost would be about the same in the end with a trade-in. Like I said, I will wait a couple of years and see what happens. Thanks to all /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

garchid,

Actually you can't use the MMM while the BH is attached to the 4100/4110. It's either one or the other, right Cliff?

The 46 goes on and off pretty quick. You really don't wan to mow with a backhoe hanging on the back anyway.

I would think the sub frame arms would interfere with the MMM hardware.....and yes the 4100 takes the 46BH

I concure you dont want to mow with the Back hoe, and even the FEL for that matter

I am not saying that I would mow with the BH guys....what I am saying is I do not want to have to reattach all of the 3 point hitch hardware in addition to removing the backhoe before mowing due to owning a RMM, hence the reason for needing to trade-in for a MMM if I were to buy a 46BH. The beauty of the BX23 is you can have the fel and the backhoe and the MMM on all at the same time. When it is time to mow, you remove the FEL and BH and you are on your way.

Certainly could be an advantage but most of the time when using a FEL or BH I would rather not have a MMM mounted.

Oftentimes clearance is needed under the tractor when digging in the dirt.

I've tried to leave the MMM on but with unsatifactory results when driving over the humps and piles that are created in most digging projects.
