Xfax - The steel pipe guards are the ones I'm used to setting. I have a friend here that builds some pretty nice ones. I need to come visit you so I can work with some nice dirt. :D

Spread out fifty yards or so of mucky, rocky black gunk this morning and dressed up the RAP next to the cattle guard.

On a rather interesting note...I've driven by this place hundreds of times and always wondered what kind of business it was. Turns out that this place is packed with hundreds of motorcycles awaiting shipment overseas. They buy at auctions (mostly repos), clean them up and put them up for sale. They were loading a container full of Harleys headed for Russia this morning. The load included a $75,000 custom Harley. They sell mostly to Russia, Australia and Japan. The owner said that the most stringent country he ships to is Singapore. The bikes have to be in absolutely perfect condition and clean as a whistle. Who'd a thunk it?

Is that your pond overflow? So I'm guessing you never got all of the silt removed?

Yes, that is the overflow for the pond where we live now. It was silted over, so I dug down and put a trash guard over the drain valve. I have removed a lot of dirt at the edge of this one, but don't plan on removing the silt.

The silt removal was from where we used to live and I finished that one. This is silt mountain and with about one third of the 5' deep silt hauled out.

Ah, that explains it.

Good photos and nice to have someone to chat with today. I put off starting another job today with rain on the way. That, and waiting on a small town inspectors approval. He's probably out mowing lawns or something important like that.

Thanks, 57 degrees and drizzle here. That silt removal was a major project for a minor man like me. :D The best thing about it , was that I discovered Versahandlers! Had never noticed compact telehandlers before.

More from the silt removal project. Would have never tried it without the 4" drain pipe that ran under the dam. I was able to take my time and wait for the rain water to drain out. The second picture is about 75% finished.

Here are a few photos of an RV park expansion I'm working on. Grading and gravel for 24 new sites and a bunch of roadway. The owner wanted the job to be done as close to December 1st as possible. The utility and sewer guys started three weeks ago...I started grading last Friday. I caught up to them Saturday. I got another job done Monday, started again Tuesday...hopping from the CTL (grading) to the tractor (spreading gravel), and caught up to them again this afternoon. If it doesn't rain I'll run right over them and have the job finished tomorrow. :D

Interesting project, as usual John. Sounds like the owner wants to get it on his books this tax year.

I forgot about the snowbird migration. :) Seems like most leave the north after Thanksgiving or after Christmas.

Man...you can have all of that white stuff. I spent my younger years in Iowa and had my fill. Texas is a weather freak show. 80 one day and 28 for the next two and then 65 and humid the next. I have more clothes in my truck now then I owned when I was in my early twenties.
