Rant on shipping

I had done my taxes and turned it over to a CPA... a few years in I get a request to furnish a long list of forms.

My CPA sent them all in blank except with zeros and my name...

That was 21 years ago.

I said would it not be simpler to write a letter explaining the forms are not applicable.

CPA said no... a real person would have to read the letter... by sending in the forms requested with information requested which was all zeros... IRS will have what it wants... and so it was.

THAT is EXACTLY why I do not complain about my $500 CPA bill!
They know the rules/ tricks, ..... and I am willing to pay for their knowledge.

Peace of Mind for a price that I am willing to pay... just the way it is.

I needed to get something notarized... good luck here... called several and even the bank which always offered this... no dice.

Called CPA and said no problem...

I ordered a furnace blower motor Monday... was told it would be several weeks out but it arrived today...

Thankfully the temp here is warm and dry... about 70 which is about 15 above typical... now if we could just figure out how to have good weather without encouraging wildfires and enough water to avoid rationing... California.

Got the Moderna today and ordered to stay home so catching up on some things around the house...

IRS real easy. Request Field Aidit at your plaace. Dey gotta do it by Regulation.
Place recorder between you and IRS man.
Click RECORD
Watch IRS guy run away. Dey not allowed to be recorded cause dey talk out 3 sides of mouth.

Another thing IRS don't tell you, dey employ big group of blind people in department dat answers taxpayers. Got screen thing like Braille readout. Some good at job, many try answer from what dey remember. IRS not responsible for giving you wrong answer.

Strange thing, I just got a letter from IRS today saying I owe over $5000 in back taxes from last year. They claim I figured the taxes on my social security checks wrong and want to tax me on $30,000 more social security payments than I received. They say if I don't agree with it and pay it that they will send an auditor out to audit my records. It is easy to prove that I never received as much social security as they claimed but doing that is not an option. It seems like blackmail to me. Some people would rather pay the $5000 than have themselves audited for the last 7 years.

Why is that not an option? Or do you mean they do not allow you to dispute that item independent of an audit? It might be worth sending documents countering their claim anyway.

Dunno if they can or will help or not, but ...

Office of the Taxpayer Advocate - Wikipedia

Hopefully it won't get to that. To be honest, based on previous experience I probably will just pay the bill and get on with my life, if it comes down to that. I've already spent too much time trying to straighten their error out while they just keep tacking on penalties and interest... it's like deja vu' all over again. :(

BIG quality difference between goose down (not feathers) and little hunks of soft foam.
Very true... wasn't sure you were just commenting on the amount someone would pay for a pillow. Some don't care and are okay with a sub $10 pillow. Me, I like two good quality down pillows that I can swap during the night. Spoiled I guess.

I noticed that now Amazon Prime 2-day free shipping gives you options where you can select 'all in one box' and add a day to the process. Or something like that. Add a day for a more economical and 'green' shipment.

Finding the right pillow can be difficult. I've found most are too big and fluffy and hurt my neck.

My wife uses and extremely thin pillow do to left over complications from a broken back when she was younger.

My wife finding the right pillow is extremely difficult. Once we find one she likes, I will visit the store and by a couple more and store them in the closet for when it's time to retire the current one.

Easy to take for granted but the wrong pillow is a nightmare.

Maybe we need to start a pillow thread? :D

Can we call it Puff de Magic Pillow?

Found out one dirty deal Post Office up to today. Most shipments from China containerized at airport of arrival and hauled by shipping contractor to last USPS distribution point. China got deal on postal rates because USPS only final link in delivery chain. Long as shipment in trailer it is NOT US Mail so it can sit forever far as USPS Union cares. Scanners don't like the labels so lot of it get kicked to manual. Rochester got trailers full behind sorting facility and more trailers sitting at Thruway compound till dey get to feeling like sorting for delivery. Other places probably got de same.

When I had my trucking business, I was on a first name basis with the local IRS auditor, got audited every toe or three years. He only ever found anything that cost me more taxes once, about $1200, but after my CPA looked at the reason for the additional tax, he refiled five years previous returns and got me $4000 back.
My CPA is worth every penny I pay him.

Remember family business getting audited... had someone crunching numbers in the back office a day and a half...

Auditor found business overpaid 1,200 and decided to call it a day saying don't want to find more overpayments...

I have requested a transcript of my tax return showing any changes that I or the IRS made to it. Hopefully this will show me the line(s) on my tax return they changed so I will know what I am fighting. 5 to 10 day wait.

If a CPA had done it, you would only respond to IRS questions through the CPA.
MUCH less likely for an an IRS auditor to play games with you!

I ordered a pkt. of 10 small sanding spindles from McMaster-Carr Thursday at 4PM......they were delivered by UPS Friday at 4PM.
Their warehouse is in Elmhurst, NJ, and that is 270 miles away.
I did not request, or pay for overnight shipping (a $9.94 item)
