Rant on shipping

Well, Amazon delivered der two packages a day early and dey consolidated them to one drop off.

And de USPS is now estimated for Tuesday. :confused3:

I hear the wet season is upon you... although not too cold?

Outside Olympia it was always hit or miss unless regular driver who knew the route...

Still surprised everytime I see the little white Postal Service trucks delivering on Sunday.

These days lack of uniforms makes it hard to know who is at the door... especially USPS... when I grew up... always well dressed and part of the neighborhood.

It has been wet and too warm for my liking. 50+/- during the day and 40+/- at night. I Like wet rather than snow but would rather see 20s and low 30s at night.

I am seeing more Amazon Prime trucks than Postal Service trucks on off hours, so I assume our new Bremerton last mile Amazon facility is up and operating.

Any USPS workers I see doing in town deliveries or at the post office all seem to be wearing a uniform, but not the rural delivery carriers (who usually use personal vehicles as well). We've had the same two since we've moved here. Likewise, I've never seen a UPS driver who wasn't dressed in brown. Don't get enough Fedex deliveries to really know.

I checked my bank account online today and it shows a deposit of $1200 for stimulus checks. Much faster than last time.

How do you know when you've received the second deposit? Ours came via a debit card (which we almost threw out thinking it was an unsolicited credit card). They charge 25¢ per balance inquiry so I'd hate to have to keep checking it. The paperwork that came with it implied that they'll just re-credit this card on further stimuli.

Same recipients is it not? I have not followed it, but that would explain it.

I noticed a deposit of $161.85 for a stimulus check. It’s confusing on how it’s calculated and am surprised that we got one.

You were in the $100K + adjusted gross income category, so they apparently calculated that you should get a little bit.
The cutoff is apparently not far above your adjusted gross.
Sadly, that amount would not even buy you one dinner at the "French Laundry".

Thanks for the explanation Fried. In my mind, we shouldn’t have gotten anything. There are far more people needing that $161.00 than us.

Yep... probably a round of drinks?

Expensive and elite dining that was able to secure PPP millions and also has a lawsuit against insurers... paid extra for pandemic coverage and was denied.

I had two packages that show label created with USPS and nothing after that.
Companies both say USPS has picked up packages. This was last week of December.
Have another USPS package which disappeared for three weeks, reappeared a few days ago, and now disappeared again.
sad

At 7:15 am Sunday morning the white Mail truck was out making deliveries...

We are getting FedEx and UPS in rental trucks... sometimes they have You Can Rent Me signage.

With all the new Ford Delivery Vans I'm seeing it has to help the auto makers?

It is just about impossible to rent a one way rental out of California... but they will just about give you the truck if you are moving from Idaho or Arizona to California.

Even the USPS must have relaxed uniform/dress rules... base ball caps, turbans, dreadlocks are not uncommon... they really can't find enough willing when competing with regional sign on bonuses others are offering.

in the 70's one of Dad's friends was a letter carrier tore up pretty bad by a dog on his route... it made the news when he was awarded a million dollars for his injuries... he never went out again delivering... did work a little inside but that didn't last long...

Messing with the mail or letter carrier was serious business... now, not so much as the rural mailboxes get pilfered... police say call the postal inspector and they have a huge backlog.

At one time it was all about proof and the proliferation of video should provide ample proof but either will or the manpower isn't there... part because it is no longer criminal... just a infraction like jay walking in most cases.

I did not know I received our stimulus checks until I checked my bank balance online. My wife and I are on Social Security even though I still work and we file a married filing jointly tax return with a check from my bank. This is why they send both of our payments to the one bank account.

Tiny little insignificant item that I don't really even care about, Just a filler item, but I don't get why it's been sitting there so long.

Saw a real mail truck on our rural road yesterday. White box type truck with all the markings. Never saw one out here before.

I feel the same way. OTOH I'm probably more apt to make sure that it gets to some of those people... and that's sad. The last time around they said everybody got one because it would take too long to decide who was affected by Covid and who wasn't. That argument doesn't pass the straight face test this time...

Are you in Aroostook county?

No, I'm three towns down from the county line. Some of the last stimulus went to buying chicks and raising them to eating size... I gave 10 to each of my nearest food pantries in Danforth and Haynesville. It wasn't much in the overall scheme of things but... it would have been more, except I messed up and lost a few when they were half grown.

Just checked and no extra deposits in any of the accounts I look after... several are social security seniors with direct deposit and basically live on social security.
