Rant on shipping

What does any of the last page or so have to do with shipping? And why do the same handful of poster repeatedly and consistently insist on violating board rules that have gotten dozens of threads closed?

^^^ happens often when the thread subject runs its course and peters out. Good thread tho.

I've been a landlord, an employer and a partner.

Never again!

I promise to post arrivals of items ordered express and track back ordered dates...

Customers/Tenants often have less than realistic expectations in the era of Covid and Stay at Home orders.

Know many that feel the same... happiest day was escrow close on apartment building.

In all fairness... it is not the same business as when I started in 1982.

Commercial NNN hasn't changed much but avoid anything with beds.

I finally called them when I started getting truancy calls for one of their students and got a name and number for a contact at the school.

As near as the lady could tell, they probably hit a wrong digit when keying a parents phone number into the computer.

I remember a time when we were kids we got a bunch of calls from a man who simply said something to the effect of "tell your father that the roads are getting slippery". Uh, yeah, OK. After about the 4th one my mother answered...turns out our phone # was one digit off from the guy who was on call that week for snowplow/sanding duty.

That's the trouble with caller ID... kids can't make prank phone calls anymore. Early one morning when I was in HS the phone rang, waking my parents and somebody asked for my father. "Don't bother coming to work today, you're fired!", then he hung up. My father said "Good, I'll go hunting". It's pretty hard for a sole proprietor to fire himself that way.

Yes, thank god prank and obscene phone calls are things of the past.

To get back to the thread subject, it looks like Amazon has me scheduled for 3 different shipments tomorrow (Sunday). Two by Amazon Prime trucks even though I do not pay for Prime. And another via UPS. No rant here, just seems odd unless the two Amazon Prime shipments consolidate.

Gave Jeff some money today. Didn't want to, but someti8mes that's the only place that has what I need at any price.

Who knows when it'll arrive.

$70 order. They broke it up into two, the bulk of it on one, but two seventy cent items are in another package coming via UPS. On what planet does it make sense to send $1.40 in items in a package that will cost them $5.00 or more?

Now it looks like they broke it up again, so either four or five shipments. Nothing has arrived yet, still showing due Wednesday the sixth. The lone 70 cent item has been chilling in Tacoma for a week and hasn't moved at all.

Your delivery people are probably intimidated by that road sign in your avatar.

Tacoma? I did not know you were in WA, I have never seen that sign. :D

Where did you get Tacoma from? The last time that I knew he drove a Taurus wagon. ;)

It would be easy to find his house though... just drive to every hilltop, looking for an LS TLB. There can't be more than 20,000 or so of the latter around...

Probably very few LS TLB's in Kitsap, WA.
Could be drizzling though, so hilltop viewing might be iffy.

Maybe, but he said it was chilling in Tacoma, not drizzling. :D

I took that to mean Tacoma WA, not that it was in a Tacoma.

Tacoma was always a smelly place when the mill was going. Locally we called the smell the Aroma of Tacoma. Many of us natives were shocked when we heard Toyota was renaming their small truck Tacoma. To us the name had a negative connotation.

I see where he got it from now. Yet it's the part which is chilling in Tacoma, not DI's LS which could be parked anywhere.

USPS got de Tax bill delivered on time today. Seem like dey can accomplish dat every year.

Amazon seems to be hedging more on estimated delivery dates recently. Two packages scheduled for tomorrow came today.

Under Promise is a tried and true business model if you already have market dominance.

Cabelas used to be great for that, as did UPS. I can understand things are crazy, and never did believe in the "delivery before you order it" mentality which was developing until recently. I just get a little pissy when somebody already has my money, yet doesn't really seem to care when they fill the order.
