Rant on shipping

Perhaps I'm the only one who has never ordered a single item from Amazon?

The free shipping was a breath of fresh air for us for about 4 years. Now, shipping takes forever and "Deals" are non existent.

Because Amazon promises 2-day delivery they put pressure on the delivery companies. No delivery in two days no pay.
So what drivers are doing is at the end of their shift if they haze dozens of Amazon boxes they write ATTEMPTED DELIVERY - NO ONE HOME.

I caught them when I was home all day once and they used that on the delivery receipt. I called screaming at them that I was sitting 12 feet from the front door all day and all night
and no one approached my house, knocked on the door, or rang the bell plus I have security camera footage.

I can understand why The Donald is having heartburn with Amazon and the Post Office. Amazon should not be allowed to dictate their own rates to the PO.

Our USPS has been great and very dependable. FedEx and UPS are given very little to deliver now. We are very rural and used to get all 3 M-F.

My Amazon shipments have gone from 1 week to over 1 month. The order that was supposed to be here last Friday isn't here yet and the tracking status says "sorry it's delayed". Tracking also shows it's at their terminal about 30 miles away so it should be here tomorrow.
My 2 day prime arrives 7-9 days now.Verses 2 day.

What will we do after Amazon has driven all the small businesses into bankruptcy and they are the only option left? I am making an effort to limit Amazon spending while buying more from the little guy.

Perhaps I'm the only one who has never ordered a single item from Amazon?

I did a thread like that a while back. It got poohpoohed and yahoo'd.

Don't feel to bad. I ordered 2 face masks a month ago and didn't realize they were coming from the Ukraine. Kick me, hurry up and wait.
I've done that a few times with Ebay. Order something go ahead and pay, then slap myself in the forehead when I realized the shipper was in china and it was gonna take a month.

My Amazon orders went from a normal 1 to 2 days to 7 to 8 days. Not pleased....
I ordered a music book for my trumpet a few weeks ago. Ordered a cleaning kit as well.

When the music book showed up, the package was obviously opened and then had a single piece of scotch tape used to close the package.

When I opened it up, I found the book as ordered. Plus a green tension band for working out

He didn't mention 'Prime', so if you consider he's talking about the normal 'free' shipping that usually takes 5-7 days or longer ....

That's it. 5-7 day shipping most often arrives in 2-4 days.

Side track: We all have seen stuff get hammered in shipping. This is the other extreme. Years ago I ordered a small Pelican case for a digital camera. With a Pelican case you could have something inside fall down a flight of stairs and be unscathed. So Pelican puts their case inside a snug box probably to keep it from getting scuffed or dirty in transit. Amazon put that box inside a bigger box with those air pillows filling the voids. I found it humorous. :D

I just ordered a Dewalt router and they simply stuck the label on the product box.

When I ordered my Titan forks I made arrangements to have them dropped off at a friend's business. On the day they were scheduled to arrive I stopped to pick them up; but he said that FedEx had pulled in the yard, sat there for a couple of minutes, then left. The next dat I got an email saying that the packaging was damaged and asking if I still would accept the package. I replied that the forks would be useless to me if FedEx could wreck them.

But did it say the product was damaged? Packaging can get destroyed without affecting the contents.

I had ordered a grab bar for the shower, when it was delivered the driver was concerned and asked me to check it since the box appeared to be broken and bent at a 90* angle. It was fine, the grab bar was an "L" shaped one. I appreciated his concern and asking me to check it. I think it very much depends on the driver.

That was the point of my post. If pallet forks can be damaged in shipping, they aren't much good.

I have never understood the allure of "Free Shipping" that you have to pay $120/Yr. for.

In the past, I never used to order more then 3 or 4 things on line per yr.
I will admit, I have started ordering more. Maybe 10 or 12 things per yr now.

Most EVERYTHING I need to order, I find cheaper then Amazon and usually with free shipping.
You just have to learn to look beyond the first page of your search engine to find a listing OTHER THEN Amazon.

I'm trying to find a set of teeth for my Woods BH right now... search engines are completely useless. They don't bolt on so the standard "el cheapo weld them up in your back yard and ship 'em overseas" won't work.

When you ordered the product online, when did they say that you would get it?

If you didn't get the product ontime per the time the seller said you would get it, you're rant isn't here, but with the seller of the product.

If something is important enough to buy for you to have, go out and buy it. I've had my own horror stories that didn't get to me when the seller said I would have it. Mistakes get made with the more hands involved.

As far as being notified that a product has shipped, I learned at least last year that all that means is that a print lable has been printed and there is a good chance the product hasn't even been picked up yet.
That was the point of my rant - If I tell someone "the check is in the mail" the term "in the mail" should mean it's in the hands of USPS, not mean I addressed an envelope and I might put it in the hands of USPS in a few days.
When I Google "shipped":
"Shipped" means that your order has been completed and has been shipped out. It is now on its way to you. You should receive an email with your tracking number or numbers so that you can see the status of your package with USPS.Apr 23, 2014
verb (used with object), shipped, shipキping. to put or take on board a ship or other means of transportation; to send or transport by ship, rail, truck, plane, etc.

Shipped has come to mean "we wrote the address on a shipping label"

I dropped Prime after it was raised from I think $90. It just wasn't worth it anymore and only encouraged me to use them for stuff I probably only thought I needed.

Often after 3-6 months they will offer a 1 month free trial so I use it then and drop it before they charge me after 30 days. They screwed me on a warehouse deal so that's my way of saying thanks. They also will offer something like $100 off on one purchase if you get their almost useless CC. I got the card, stowed it in a safe place and canceled about 4 months later.

The $120 Prime fee was nothing compared to the shipping costs we saved over the years. Shipping to Alaska has always been ridiculous. Shipping on my Compact Tractor was about $10K. I call this the "Bend over State".

Have you tried Woods directly?
Would be surprised if they dont stock them
