While I was done some dirt work Saturday I was noticing... There is a lot of dirt, dust, crud spilling over the bucket and getting on the hydraulic rods. Why the rods down towards the bucket? Has anyone turned them around and swapped the hoses?

This will keep the rods and seals away from crap. Less contamination and seal issues.

I think if you turn them around the cylinder end with the hoses will move to much .....

I think the chances of damaging the base end hose & fitting would have a greater chance of happening than "nicking" the exposed end of the cylinder if it were reversed. :2cents:

Dirt bikes have shields to protect the stanchions and seals from rocks and dirt. Weld up some shields and mount them over the stanchions. All it would take is a length of sheet steel bent lengthwise at about a 45 deg angle and some brackets to mount them. Or...don't pick up an overflowing bucket load. :thumbsup:

Spill shields ? are a good way to keep the cyl. & pins somewhat clean & protected. Not a big deal to fab up.
