Rain

Rain ??? - Heck, I'm just glad that storm yesterday wasn't snow. Daybreak temps here - 32F. I just hope the hummers have built warm nests up in my old pine trees. The poor wildflowers almost die every morning.

32F in the morning sounds kinda nice
☺️
Rain here stopped for 2 days....and the temps are 90's. More rain expected Tues evening, Wed and
Thurs and maybe some hail! Ground is still to wet to work, but I did get some lawn mowing
around the house done this afternoon. Radar weather "guestimates" it will probably enter La. and
maybe some moving N.E. into Ark.

We had an EF1 on the other side of Tyler from where I’m at, on the other side of Lake *********. Probably a 45 minute drive from my place. When I first decided to look at Tyler before moving here, I stayed at the RV Park that was destroyed that’s on the lake.

Well - I guess - summer has arrived. It's been dryer than a popcorn fart for the last two weeks. My Davis weather station is stuck at 6.80 inches of rain. That's since Jan 1, 2024.

The other day I went out to give the Taco Wagon its annual wax job. No rain but enough thunder/lightning - Brownie and I retreated to the house.

Long ago - lightning struck one of the gigantic pines - quite near the house. I saw the aftermath. A spiral burned path down the pine. All the way to the ground. The "sound" - so darn loud I was momentarily deafened. A very visible, lasting impression.

Definitely crazy Tx weather....as usual. Seems like storms last night kind of split plus they took paths that kept varying. Friday night we got 3". N. Tx tornado's Saturday night. Now excessive heat warnings plus
more rain on the way for the coming week! (all that...and I still wouldn't live anywhere but Tx)

The great N.W. is some of the prettiest country I've ever seen. Hope you get some rain soon.
That "pop" is lightning heating up the sap inside the tree causing it to split open. Heard it myself and it will give you chills. Natures power.

Michigan is fine with me because we own so much land here. At one time, Amy and I were looking at ranches in Texas but the land won't support the hay I grow here.

I get that. Besides, you and HayDude and a couple of others on TBN are big wheels in hay/alfalfa
production. I'm just a tiny little spoke trying to keep a fairly clean coastal field and sell all the round bales I can get baled. I'm trying to learn from you guys. So please keep posting about the business!

Wahoo!! It's raining lightly here. Got 0.10 in the last two hours. We were supposed to get this yesterday. Today is fine by me.

Too wet to get into a lot of fields to plant corn around here.

Hmmm. The rain stopped as soon as I mentioned it. Two hours - 0.12 inch.

Forecast is for rain over the next ten days. Today looks like it's gonna hit pretty hard this morning.

We can hear the thunder too!!!! My wife just left for Tyler to see the Vet at 8am. She isn't sure if she'll make it back before it hits.

I'm repairing some siding on an old house for work, but I'm staying home today. Maybe I can paint tomorrow.

First wave passed us with heavy rain and wind.

May 28 Second Wave.png

Tornado might of touched down a few miles past us. Also warnings of tornadoes just South of Tyler. The power went out at 8:30, right after I took these pictures. The generator is doing a good job, so we're just waiting it out.

Rain/storms every day here, it seems. Yesterday, I got caught driving in a bad one. I took this pic after I got home and it slowed down.

You got another wave of heavy rain on the way. Might be in Tyler in 30-45minutes. No 70mph winds like earlier, no hail so far and no mention of tornado this round. Stay safe.

Planting times vary with location, I get that. We drove through part of Rockwall and Hunt counties in N.E. Tx yesterday and there are corn fields already waist to chest high. I guess all this rain is good for them unless it floods the fields instead of draining. Hope you are able to get yours in the ground soon enough to make a crop.
