I recently aquired a new B74 Rad/Bervac Blizzard snowblower. Overall I think it is an awesome machine. The only thing that disappoints me is that the manual chute rotator can not seem to be adjusted in any way to make it reachable (at least not very conveniently) from the tractor seat.

I've searched and seen many of the homemade hydraulic and electric chute rotators for this type of blower on TBN. All look to be fairly easy to put together, and quite functional but I was wondering if anyone has the factory Rad hydraulic chute rotator. The owners manual shows it to be two crescent shaped pieces for a linkage actuated by a hydraulic cylinder. I believe that the dealer told me that it was about $250. So, I'm wondering if by the time I collect the necessary components and fabricate the mounting brackets, couplings, etc if it might not be worth it to just purchase the factory kit.

Anybody have one of the factory chute turners? Can you comment about it. Good? Bad? And, maybe provide a couple of pictures of it?

Other owners have gone with an electrical chute rotator - In fact I am going to do the same thing..

I picked up a new 1500lb 12V electric winch that I will mount on the top of the auger box on my 73" blower. All I have to do is adapt the cable and winch drum, to rotate the chute. Also, there is the remote switch that can be mounted up near the instrument consul - allowing remote electrical operation to turn the chute in the desired direction.

The cost of the winch on sale was $48.99 - which is a steal. Works out cheaper than hydraulic and replacements if needed, readily available.Add maybe $25.00 for wire, connectors etc., for a total of $75.00 installed.

I only found out about this by scanning previous post and stumbled across the set up. Thanks to orevious poster, I should have my chute rotating easily for just $75 all found (my labour being free).

Cheers

Jim

I have that kit on a 74" blower. Works flawlessly. If you have a remote valve on your tractor that is available to control the hydraulic rotation, I'd choose that over ANY electric system in a heartbeat.

I've got a b84 with factory hydraulic chute rotation. It works excellent. If you have a rear remote I think it's the way to go. Price sounds reasonable. You would probably have $150.00 just in the piston, hoses and connectors. I also have the hydraulic deflector. It actually uses the same size piston as the one for the rotation. That also works very well if snow placement is an issue. No pictures, sorry.

that is just like the one i have on my frontier sb1164 , it works great a little fast but better than a hand crank . i do have the same thing minus the hydraulic ram on the shelf in the tractor shed , it's too bad you are so far away.

No its a little different. I've included a picture of the dwg from the owners manual.

And I thought mine was a wacky setup.

One advantage of the one in your drawing is that it could double as a torture device.
