rack location jinma 254

tracors been sitting at a friends farm for almost a year, last time it was very difficult to start.

Can someone send along a pic of the location on the pump where to access the rack, this seems to have helped alot of folks with similair symptoms to those was experiencing last time I tried to start it (hard to start, wont stay running). Ive been all through the fuel system looking for air leaks, blowing out clogged screens, etc.

Im bringing a new battery, new fuel filter and 5 gal of fresh diesel and am prepaired to repeat similair opperations, but would love to get to the bottom of this once and for all.

On the side of the IP there is a plate with 4 screws that allows access to the individual IP cylinders and rack. Since the rack runs right into the front of the governor, not sure you can really access it to manually throttle it while running if that is what you are thinking. But by draining the fuel and opening that cover you should be able to check that the rack is advancing to full throttle under governor spring pressure when the engine is not running. When you pull the shutdown cable/lever on the governor you override the governor spring and should be able to see the rack shift to the fuel off position...

Don't forget to change the oil IN THE PUMP.. whatever u use in the engine is fine..
They are real bad about the shut off lever sticking, so watch out for that..

I was able to tow it out of the place it was stored and onto the trailer with an atv, so now its at my place where I can work on it. Starter is shot, so need to have rebuilt or get a new one. Second time the starter has crapped out...
