I have been using a drawbar on 3point with chain on it, lower- wrap chain around tree as low as possible- lift 3point - pull forward to finish extraction of roots. Sometimes a little slipping on tree/brush but working so far on up to 3-4in trees, just tedious by self getting off wrapping chain and then dropping it, yes two bodies would work better. If still doing this in summer when the ground is hard I bet another method will have to be used, will keep you suggestions in mind.

OldTin,

Yes I picked it up at Moundridge tractor as well also an upgrade from an 8n that is becoming troublesome to get running sometimes and well and constantly moving 3point. I saw them and talked with them at the State Fair and was getting ready to pull the plug on it in September, then I broke my left foot, and was out of commission for a few months while healing. I got my cast off earlier this month, and after one weekend my wife gave me the O.K. to get the tractor again, for our cleanup project on the farm, it has been neglected for 20 yrs. I called Moundridge to check if they had a R4047 as I was wanting a Tier 3 and either 40 or 47hp, They happened to have this that came from a dealer in MO, it has washer fluid in the tiers instead of Rimguard that Moundridge puts in, I have read on her of others using it, apparently no problems just a bit lighter. All looked good when I went to check it out and they did a good job of going over the tractor with me and making sure I understood how everything worked. They are not a big sales but more repair on older tractors but good folks that treaded me right.

The first weekend of hauling junk around; tires, loading trailer for recycling and pulling tress with 3point and chain. After 3hr she said we just got 2 weekends of work done! I think I may have lost my time in the seat.

Dr BlueBeetle as the kids have named her is proving to be a valuable tool that my wife has admitted, 'why did we wait so long on getting this?' primary duties will be cleaning out barns, grading ground to drain water around buildings, pull up tons of 3in weed tress around building then clean up pastures and waterways on farm. I think I have years of work ahead of me with Dr BlueBeetle. Unfortunately the weather, and other commitments will keep us from working this weekend. More to come, likely PF grapple & forks, but caught with getting EA Wicked grapple, looks stronger, ligher and just butter but nearly 2x $$$. still trying to find the best way to pull up small trees with chain and three point. Need to get busy all for now

Glad the tractor is working out for you. The dealer has pallet forks that I have been trying to talk myself into. My problem is that as long as I can make do, I won't buy. However, I believe the years are finally showing me the error of my ways and before long I shall have a set of forks. They are 48" and I think 2000 or 3000 # which is plenty for the 4047, last quote was 650. They are also very reasonable on filters, or were.

I have the titan forks and are happy with them, and they work pretty good for popping out small trees & bushes also.
Go ahead and buy some forks, I use mine for almost every job I do . You will wonder why you waited so long!!!!

Like many others, I use my forks as much as the bucket.
