R4041 Loader Issue LB4101

My 7274 had a 417 loader which is the same as a Woods 165. The 7300 has a 476 loader, which is the same as a Woods 1009.

That front axle has for its outer wheel bearings, a ball bearing with 8 balls in a riveted cage. Too much weight pushes the balls apart so hard that it blows the rivets out of the cages. I have seen this failure four times.

The weights that I busted stuff with were trees and logs. I wonder how hard it would be to upgrade the front drive to a beefier one. It's too bad the LS is the smaller, weaker, loader, as its front axle looks way hunkier.

I also have foamed front tires on the Cub, which is also supposed to be hard on front drives. I do like to look at the nail heads sticking out of those tires though.

So are you saying that the 2500# lift & 4354# breakout are OVERrated? Those specs are higher (on paper) than from what I've seen from competing size tractor/loader combinations from other manufacturers.

I agree that the maximum height of the lift is lower than competing loaders, but it's more than my last loader, and I had no issues with the height of that as it was.

...
For S&G's, I was just looking on the LS site for specs on the u5020. The tractor is obviously bigger (a couple inches longer, wider & taller).... The loader specs (LL5100/5102 loader) for weight are not much higher than the LL4100/4101, but the lift height dynamics are MUCH better; Roughly 20" higher! The hydraulic flow is also about 20% higher.

Getting irritated with my loader now:

Used it for a couple hours today moving some dirt. Nearly every time I get to full dump, the rollback goes limp briefly. It takes me 3 attempts of "side-to -side " on the joystick before the bucket will actually "shake", getting the rest of the dirt out.

Here's an example:

I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow and see what he has to say about it.

:D anytime I get the tractor out, they follow me around to forage in the fresh dirt. They had a field day today as I turned over alot of grass, but the idiots get so dang close to the tractor, it's a wonder I haven't squished any yet.
