Quick hitch

   / Quick hitch #21
With respect to this question, I took a closer look at close look at my QH this morning, and the flat bars that swing out to hold the implement on the lower hooks only span about half of the width of the hook opening. I looked and couldn't find a way to adjust them so that they protrude further, so I think I will contact Land Pride and inquire about it.

Again, thanks to everyone who responded.

I have the same question as RRILEY below, Do you at least have bushings on the pins? The locking bars on both my QHs don't span the entire width. but with the proper bushings it could not slip past.
Did you notice if those lock bars are only held under spring tension. I was gonna check mine.

Do you have quick hitch adapter pins from 7/8 to 1-7/16 on your mower pins? maybe this will help fill the void on your quick hitch to help keep it from so much movement.

In answer to the question as to whether I have bushings on the implement pins, the answer is, Yes I do.

In answer to RRILEY's question, yes, the lock bars are held by spring tension.

OK, I realized as soon as the incident happened that I erred in judgment in transporting my equipment in that manner and immediately remedied the situation, yet I have been repeatedly taken to the wood shed in this thread, so I have also learned another valuable lesson. You can believe me when I say, from now on I'll keep my lessons to myself and never write another similar post, nor will I respond further to this one. I just thought it would be helpful to others who may do the same thing, so fire away fellas. (Edited to say thanks to those who stated their appreciation for what I was trying to do.)

Don, those naysayers don't speak for all of us on this board.

The ones that tend to flame others for admitting their mistakes need a lesson in manners. You seem to care about others or you wouldn't have posted here in the first place.

Those who belittle others probably would never admit their mistakes on this board. Their intimidating actions no doubt keep others from posting their experiences, thus causing us to lose out on any valuable information they may have to offer.

I for one have a quick hitch. It also has a spring loaded lock, as I'm sure most do. I didn't know it could come unlocked in transport. That information is beneficial to all that use the quick hitches, as they will probably take action to make sure they don't come undone during transport.

Just getting that information out is good to know and may save someone's life.

So you done good.

Ditto, some folks don't seem to read the entire thread before commenting sometimes. I always stop in here and catch up, the life I save may be the readers' here:thumbsup:

I also thank you for your Safety post. I am quite new to using a quick hitch and never thought anything would come off it, I was about to trailer my tractor with a box scraper to repair a road for our local gun club. Now I will ensure it chained down. Thank you for post.
PS: I like the idea of turning your top hook upside down.
