Quick attach plate light, cheap and simple

Bob,
I think it looks great!
Now for some stats:
How long did it take to do?
And how much was the cost?

While reading your post, I was a little befuddled at first when you said 'like lifting the rear of the PT'. But then it hit me...PT Pucker ;~)

It is hard to say how long it took since I was learning to weld with the Henrob 2000 torch at the time. I would say that I could make a second one in three hours time.

Cost - I now pay $0.25 per pound for scrap steel. It weights 18 pounds. So that's $4.50 cents plus the 2 inch receiver tube from Northern for about $13. Total cost $17.50. Of course I also used some welding rod and gas, but I don't have cost for that. Call it $20 dollars. My time is now free since I am retired.

I weighted an almost blank quick attach plate and it weights 21 pounds. So mine is really not that much lighter (18 pounds including the weight of the 2 inch receiver). Oh well, it's still cheaper.

I attached the front of the PT to a tree with the new 2 inch receiver and was able to lift both rear wheels off of the ground without damaging the assembly. I do have the rear weights on the PT. They weight a total of 110 pounds.

I don't think it worked, the tree is still there.:D

I added the top piece to my gas welding tank cart today. See attached pictures. The bottom piece is just a piece of angle. The attachment does not lock on, but I don't see this as necessary. So am I the first to have a welder attachment on their PT?

It took about 2 hours to build two of the top pieces. The bottom piece was just a scrap. I think this does qualify as a light, cheap, and simple quick attach plate. It probably does not weight over 5 pounds.
