Tires question on tires

looking to buy a century 3045. it has r4 tires 17.5L-24
I was wondering if I will have trouble Plowing with such a wide tire. I have a 2 bottem 14in plow. sure do like the looks of this tractor and the price is great

Great taste! MY 3045 is in transit! You should be able to get R1 tires and save yourself some money. I think the list extra is about $500 for the R4. Some dealers give your choice at no extra charge, check and see with your dealer. If you have other reasons for the R4's I don't see why there would be a problem. Over #5000 with the FEL, 4WD and 48 HP should do the trick /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm pretty sure my Branson 3520's R4s are that size, but the weather's lousy at the moment, so I'm not going out to the shop to look. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can tell you that ripping my pasture with a subsoiler required either differential lock or 4WD to get past the tough spots, but not both.

The soil here is badly compacted red clay with some rock, and I had the subsoiler a full 12 inches down. I had the FEL mounted, but the bucket was off. My tires aren't loaded (yet). I suspect loaded tires would make all the difference in the world.

So far, I am very pleased with my decision to go with the R4s.

Yes I know that for most things the r4 will do me better but I was wondering if the tire will be to wide in the furrow when I plow. I just told them I would take it, the dealer is Kent Power equipment in Casnovia MI. It's a demo with 72 in bucket, dual remotes and c50 fel for under 17k. where else can you get 40pto horses for that kind of money. after it use it for a few hrs i'll rite a review on how I like it. The dealer seemed very will to please and seemed very knowledgeable

You shouldn't have any trouble keeping it down in the furrow. A lot of farm tractors have tires that wide, and a 14" bottom is a 14" bottom, regardless of how many there are on the plow frame.
BTW- Great tractor, Great price. The only thing I would trade mine for is another one /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
