Question for the professionals?

I have a substantial amount of creeping buttercup and chickeeed in my lawn. Last year, I sprayed it with a combination of 2 weed killers. One used 2,4-D as the active ingredient, the second used glyphosphate as the active ingredient. These were both concentrates that I blended to about 40% stronger than the directions on the containers. The buttercup and chickweed withstood both of these chemicals even though I used them, on average about every 10-12 days for the majority of the summer.

My question is how do I get rid of this stuff, preferably without replacing all of my topsoil. I have thought about calling my buddy, who owns an excavation company, and have him strip the lawn and replace all the topsoil. Is there a way to get rid of the buttercup and chickweed once and for all?

If the glyphos. was any good, ---It should have killed EVERYTHING---including the grass!!!!---your lawn should be barren!!
Get fresh chemical and mix it strong.---2-4-D alone will kill the broadleaf stuff,---IF you have fresh chems.----2-4-D is available in 2 grades.---- Amine and LV Ester!--ester will drift bad so watch where you use it.
You may be able to apply a pre-emerg. herbicide to kill the seeds before they sprout.---I think PREEN now has a lawn grade for that purpose.---Their garden grade sure works good! thanks; sonny580
