I have a spray bottle of WD 40 that I'm trying out this winter instead of silicone. So far it seems to work pretty good.

Doofy - never had to experience a Chinook/Williwa while living in Glennallen - I'll never forget the cold. Guess you are lucky that you don't have to travel the Richardson thru Thompson Pass down to Valdez. We sure had the Chinooks while we lived in Anchorage.

Getting to the point of actually missing the cold. Weather is just to unpredictable anymore. We at least need a week or so of -30.

Out of WD40 (oh the shame). I do have about 3 gallons of Marvel Mystery Oil that may help.

My chute was kind of rusty last year, kept plugging.....I sanded and painted the inside this summer, made a world of difference....hasn't plugged up this year yet.

I've used almost everything - silicon spray, Fluid Film, WD-40. They all work. Hard to say which is best because the snow conditions are always different. The one thing that completely prevents plugging - impeller kits (rubber flaps to close the gap between the blades and housing). I added those to both my walk behind blower and my 3 point blower and they have never plugged since.

Do they sell those or do you fab them?

I use fluid film and it works well

You have to make them out of old truck mud flaps or something like that...I have some old belting from a conveyor belt.

You can make them yourself but they are sold by various suppliers. I bought mine years ago from the originator, "Clarence's Impeller Kit", a guy up in Canada. Back then, the kits were about $25. I did a quick search on Ebay and it seems there are a lot of suppliers but the prices are in the $40 to $50 range now.
