Occasionally, when I stop and try to move forward/backward slowly, nothing happens when I slightly push the treadle. If I push the treadle a little more, then the tractor will lunge forward/backward. The behavior is similar to when you first start the tractor and need to energize the break circuit to get moving. But this happens even though the break circuit is already energized.

However, there is a way to stop the behavior too. Consider the following scenario: I'm moving forward and then stop and try to go slowly backward. If the tractor does not move when I slightly push the left pedal, I will then push the right pedal to move forward a foot or two. Then when I try to go backward, the tractor moves smoothly. I think this may have something to do with a worn shuttle valve. Any ideas?

Hmm...where is this valve located?

If you look at the bottom of the page link in the previous post, it shows two photos of the valve from front/rear, which should help you find it. On mine it is behind the hydraulic tank on the left side of the tub, under the diesel tank, basically below and forward of the draft control valve. But that's for a 1445.

All the best,

Peter
