both the back windows on suburban will not roll down. when the window controls are used from the drivers seat i can hear a clicking noise coming from each back side window but the window does not do anything. it is a 2001 chevy suburban and i have checked the fuses. does anyone have any suggestions before i take it to body shop? thanks.

Yep...either the cable for the regulator broke or it's disconnected. Common problem due to design. Take the door panel off and take a look, it's not hard to repair or replace the regulator. Seems odd that both failed at the same time.

Good luck...

I assume the windows don't work from the back door switchs either, try slaming the door real hard.Sometimes the brushes wear down and don't make contact.

Slaming the door might work to wake the motor, but why beat on the latch and door jamb? Just give a couple smacks with the palm of your hand to the inside door panel just below the arm rest.

What you're likely hearing is the drive gear on the motor trying to turn the broken "ladder-like" plastic drive that actually moves the windows, unless this has an older style lever & gear drive mechanism, then the drive gear is likely stripped.

Yep, sounds like it's time for new window regulator assemblies.

Probably going to be pretty pricey. Check local junkyard for cheaper replacements, but then you don't know how long they will last. I bet new are in the $300.00 range.

On my truck, both passenger side windows stopped working within a week or so of each other. Since I always drive, I haven't worried about fixing them.
