RK37SC & John Deere 2030
What is the difference between the LS S3010 and the i3030? The only difference I can see is the number of gears in the transmission. The S3010 has 8 fwd & 8 reverse and the i3030 has 12 fwd & 12 reverse.

Also, can anybody tell me if the transmissions in these two tractors are fully synchronized or if the shuttle is the only synchronized part?

Ok, I've done a little more reading on this site, and I've found that the S3010 has a non-folding ROPS, some instrument panel lights that are inoperative, and that the transmission whines more than the i3030.

Anything else?

The non-folding ROPS is a possible show stopper for me. I'll probably go with one of the standard Compact series, if I can figure out how to afford the thing. The nearest dealer to me has a R4020 on his lot. Man, that is a NICE machine. I wish I could afford it.

With the pricing that I got from the LS dealers, if you can afford a 30 Hp tractor from the big 5, then you can buy a 45Hp LS with more standard equipment than the Big 5 brands. I was looking at a MF 1652 with cab for $35K and ending up getting an LS P7010 cab with 72 Hp for $500 more. I didnt need a 70hp but wanted at least 50 HP and a cab with heat and AC, so this just made more sense to me. I am glad I did the LS route. I have the power and size to do whatever I want and since I can run it at about half throttle and do anything that I can do with my 45 HP Yanmar at full throttle, I actually burn less fuel with the larger tractor.

What kind of money are they asking for the R4020 these days. Looked at one a year ago. Looked like a nice machine. Trac

He said the price was $23,800 with the 0%, 48 month financing. But the cash price was $4,000 less. Needless to say, I'm dieing right now, trying to figure out how to afford it and keep a happy wife. :confused2: :confused2:

My dealer quoted me a cash price of $13900 for the 3010 and $ 19000 for the
4010.

I took a very quick look at the LS Tractor USA site and 2 things immediately jumped out to me. The i3010 comes with 2 rear remotes and a "Full Independent or Manual" PTO. The S3010 comes a "live" PTO and no remotes. I'm pretty sure there is a lot of other stuff too. It might be pretty tough to find them sitting at a dealer side-by-side. Good luck.

LittleBlueTractor: Thanks for the additional info. Today I pulled the trigger on the R4020 that I've been looking at. But it'll be a week or so before I pick it up. I'm having some things done to it.
